  1. Posted by Biggles' Elder Brother - Moderator on 09/11/2012 19:52:17: Plan and canopy are discounted Ian. My canopy arrived today. BEB May I confirm my understanding, that there will not be a wood pack?
  2. I am very interested to see the joint wisdom on which motor to get, also I am about to place shipping order of replacement parts due to a couple of "unintended" arrivals and I am wondering which servos I should get. I see that they should be mini servos but the choice then is bewildering. Should I be looking for any other additional hardware? I have an RX and ESC waiting. Just in case any one is not sure, yes I am one of the beginners who will be sucking in all the help and information possible.
  3. I had a 10mm spanner taken off me, I asked why and was told "because you are not allowed it"! It is impossible to work out the rules as they are made up as they see fit.
  4. I am seeing (or not seeing) this problem, I am running Firefox 14.0.1 on Ubuntu 12.04
  5. As a regular EBay buyer, I would say that the biggest deterrent is the carriage, will you really going to be charged that much? Starting price is to high, start low and put a reserve on, as others have said if you have used expensive parts say so, otherwise it is assumed it is made out of bargain basement bits. Saying all that if you are hoping to get £250 on EBay for a secondhand repaired plane it will only happen on a good day.
  6. I recently travelled to my LMS, £6 petrol 2.50 parking to wait 10 minutes to be served, "Spektrum AR600 please", "ah, give me a minute" he looks up the stock list which I had done before going up to them. He looked through some boxes, "here you go" went to pay for it but the price was different to the expected price so took a second look at it "This is an AR6000", " Haven't got one then", "but it shows it on your stock list", "its often wrong" I then asked for an AR6210 as I needed a receiver, "nope run out of them". I then asked if I could check through the stock boxes and found an AR400, "I'll have one of these if it is full range", "don't know", so I took it back off him and read the back, first line at the top " this full range receiver" so I paid RRP and was sort of happy as I could fly that weekend. In short why should I support an outfit that hasn't got what it says in stock, is hard to get to in the centre of a town and even though a novice I seem to know more than they do. I am pleased to have found Kings Lynn Models, very helpful, expert advice, deliver when they say they will and competitive.
  7. I was very impressed with how well my first delivery from the UK warehouse was packed, being new to the hobby I have been getting quite a few deliveries and this has been the best for product safety so far. I would like to ask Scott if it is possible to inform us when a container has been received and the contents loaded on to the Website as looking at the arrivals screen I cannot work out what is new and what I have already seen.
  8. Thank you all for your help and advice. A little more background. The motor is a stock brushed 400. The ESC is a Blue Arrow PP-30B and the batteries I have been using are 2s-1800 20c. Unfortunately the ESC is a very simple unit offering no functions other than auto cut. I did discover that a capacitor suffered some damage on the original ESC so have now replaced the capacitor and tried with the original ESC but still no joy. I am still waiting for the replacement motor to arrive, If that doesn't fix it I will have to assume one of the replacement parts is also faulty. It did work so well originally before the "incident". I am considering getting a watt meter/analyzer, as I am sure I will find that useful in the future as I do prefer to to build my own models rather than going down the ARTF route for much longer but I was going to learn to fly first as I am finding it more of a challenge that I first anticipated.
  9. Thanks you for the welcomes. The odd fault. If you use more than 30% throttle the power backs off and the prop slows down. This is a Multiplex Easystar as original. Attempts to fix so far. New batteries(3) New ESC New receiver Motor stripped down, checked, reassembled. Commutator is scratched otherwise OK. Transmitter reset to factory settings. I now have a new motor coming in case I missed something. I have resorted to removing everything and testing on a bench but still no joy. I have also resoldered all joints and resistance tested them.
  10. Hello everyone, I am a total beginner, although I used to fly gliders from the south downs in free flight all built from plans in the tissue and dope days. I have joined a local club and have a very patient instructor, not getting much practise in at the moment as I am waiting for it to stop raining! In the meantime I am practising on a sim which I find OK but not real world enough. I did manage a spectacular crash on my first flight and have ended up with an odd fault, I have changed everything except the airframe and still have it but it will be fixed soon.
