  1. Bruce, I love the little HK altimeter; I only use it in the P2K. Best hight so far is just over 1500' on a lovely summers day last year. Caught a thermal and up she went. Needed full flaps and a hard dive to get her down to a reasonable level.
  2. I use a 1300 or 1500 lipo from a flat field and on a good day can get an hour + with 4 / 5 motor runs. Never tried a 2200, always thought it would be too much
  3. Posted by john melia 1 on 10/02/2015 15:13:57: isnt tower hobbies in america , would you not get stung with vat and import duties It is, but they sneakily have a .co.uk web address
  4. Bruce I have 4 delta 8 rx's and (unhelpfully) not had any issues whats so ever even with my Bix 2 at 1000' Mart
  5. I've been flying planes and gliders for a few years, and now would judge myself as an "intermediate" flyer. I don't crash too often - except when showing off (inverted through the goal post comes to mind!) I got a quad a year ago (small thing) with which i learnt to fly around the garden, then built a 450 size with a KK2 board. Being roundish, I kept loosing orientation, so a few weeks ago I built a HobbyKing H4 (470 size). Well it flies well in the garden so took it over the field yesterday. I have come to the conclusion that my brain has a blockage when an aircraft travels unnaturally sideways and towards me! I cant work out what sticks to push to correct it. I've tried and tried... Just can't do it... I think I'm sticking to wings - much easier! At least on the bright side I've 4x motors and esc's to find planes to put them into!!
  6. Another +1 from me - always get a good service from them
  7. I'm waiting for the 1600 to come back into stock - in the meantime, waiting for some decent weather to get out with the P2K. I thoroughly enjoyed sloping during the summer on holiday, but Essex it very flat!
  8. Bruce, I'd have a go at calibrating the esc initially. Unplug the battery, set throttle to full, plug battery in to esc, wait for the bleep and close throttle. Unplug battery and plug back in and give it a go. Mart
  9. So, after a couple of disappointing visits to the farmers sloping fields with not much wind, the last few days have seen a lot of fun, thanks to the end of Bertha! The slope isn't ideal, but does face west. 40mph winds gusting more was quite an initiation to this slope flying mulurky. Managed quite a few flights of 5 mins or more, but decide to call it a day when the FW Spectre spent more time behind me than in front! Hoping for a slightly calmer day tomorrow.
  10. My main problem is the lack of slopes where I live. The biggest slope around here is the sliproad to the A406 North Circular at Ilford
  11. I'm hoping to loose my cherry next week. Bought a flyingwings Spectre just for the holiday, and we're heading to Exmoor National park. I figure there must be a slope or hill to maiden it on! Mart
  12. Not too helpful, but I bought one last week to take to North Devon next week! I bought the kit which included the servos and battery pack, as I'm a lipo / electric power only sort of guy! There is a review by Tim Mackey on the tube (**LINK** and seeing as this is my first non-powered plane it looks just right! In his review, Tim says it flies great, but is not suitable for combat. It took longer to assemble than I'd imagined - only due to covering it twice, but it does feel quite indestructible now. I'm really looking forward to giving it some air time next week. Being of a limited budget, I went for the Spectre
  13. Martin, Thanks. Its new. Looking at my charger, it appears that it charges in A rather than mA. Not wanting to cause an problem, is it the same@ Either 2.3A or should it be .3A. Sorry - failed physics at school many years ago.... Edited By Mart49 on 25/07/2014 20:05:37
  14. Help please! I'm a Lipo man, but just bought a slope soarer to take away with me this summer. It comes with 2300mah Nimh 4.8v battery, and I'd like to know the best setting to charge it with. Any help and advice appreciated. Mart
