  1. Hey Keith, also note update bulletin 1, point A which meantions re enforcing the fuselage sides. I’m not sure if others have done this but I’m planning on adding the additional 1/32 ply. Point B is also worth doing, u/c re enforcement ?
  2. I’ve ordered this, I think it comes in ever so slightly narrower than the GRP one supplied, I’ll compare them once it arrives ?
  3. Hi all, This is the later release kit I believe that comes with the GRP cowl and undercarriage and duel aileron servo recesses pre cut. I am guessing I will be ok with standard sized servo’s? I would also like to add some wheel spats and possibly a CF under carriage and tail wheel if anyone has any recommendations? I am just waiting for some tooling to arrive and then I can get the on with the build. ⛏??
  4. Thank you guys, all points noted ? I must say I am looking forward to building this. I’ll post some progress pictures as I go if I remember.
  5. Hi all, I have just picked up a Chris Foss Acro Wot kit and can’t wait to get started on it! Whilst not new to flying I am new to kit builds so I’m reaching out to anyone that has been in my shoes for tips and advice on building, also any essential tools etc I should get hold of. My plan is to build it up with a Saito 82b some decent servos and wheel spats to finish. thanks for reading ?
  6. Thank’s Shaun, Looks a nice tidy model! Simple and easy to repair when the time comes 😂 The slower landing characteristics will definitely help until my reactions speed up for sure! Thank you for your advice ✌️ Nick
  7. Hi Shaun, I am looking for something i can take out in my local area right now you see. Waiting for an open spot at a club close enough and flying someone elses model once a week isnt going to work for me unfortunatley.
  8. Hello everyone, I can not believe it's been 8 years since I last visited this forum, well that's kids and life for you I suppose. During lockdown I got given a little 3ch foamy plane (nothing fancy at all) so I thought why not, spoke to my local farmer who agreed to let me fly in his field provided I was alone (couldn't argue with that) and off I went. I've basically been out with it every day the weather has permitted with a pocket full of 1s's and I'm officially hooked again! There is something so rewarding about flying a tidy simple figure of 8 with a few loops thrown in for fun, especially when I feel like I have taught myself. Now I am by no means an accomplished pilot, but I 100% want to be! I'm waiting on a phone call from a (not so) local club to me where I can hopefully join some of you for likeminded fun. However in the meantime I want/need a bigger model, something I have more authority over as this foamy doesn't mix well with wind (although its improved my reaction times), I'm looking for something around 1000-1500mm W/S, electric, but more importantly something I can learn and hopefully progress on. I've been looking at the Volantex TrainStar Epoch 747-6 V2. Reasons, its cheap, looks fairly tough and I think its something I can grow in to as my skills develop.Like I said, I'm no expert and would really appreciate some advice from the community, such as other models to look at etc. Thanks for reading an I look forward to chatting with some of you. Nick
  9. Another thing to look out for is the swash setup. If you take a close look at the inner ring output balls, you will notice they are different measurements across. In the photo below, the vertical balls are wider apart than those sitting horizontally. Fitting the control arms to the narrowest ones will tame the heli a bit without the need for any programming. Nick
  10. Fingerless, trim will not work on this bird, the as3x will counteract these inputs. Set the heli up as a heli, using the single servo swash option in the setup options, no sub trim either. It worth checking the main gear is pushed fully onto the main shaft as it is only pressed on. If this isn't pushed up and there is play in the main shaft you will get a very sloppy, unresponsive heli with a mind of its own. Hope this helps Nick
  11. Posted by wayne drinkwater on 24/11/2012 09:19:30: Had my bixler 2 clap wings at around 400ft this morning Still nearly repaired again after finding all the bits, should be all go in a day or so Hope you got this sorted ok Wayne! i still haven't had chance to maiden my Bixler 2, it's all setup ready to go just waiting for some decent conditions. Nice to see some discussion about the model tho ✈ Nick
  12. Using the DX8 & MSRX indoors I use 80% rates and 35 expo on both aileron and elevator 100% rate and 0 expo on rudder. Outdoors I use 100% rate and 0 expo on all channels. Flys great imo Nick
  13. I got a MSR X bnf only a couple of weeks ago and I love it!! Wolstenflyer isn't wrong about the as3x bugs but there are easily counteracted. For example when using right rudder you will need a little backward elevator and right rudder forward (I think that's the right way round, I just do it instinctively now). If you think how small it is which allows proper 4ch in your living room and how well it flys its a pretty small trade off in my opinion. As I said I've only had it a couple of weeks and I'm throwing the thing around my dining room, I even bought 6 more cells for longer running. I had it outside last weekend and to be honest it was a little windy but it was great fun. Best of all it's tough, very tough to be fair! If I get into trouble I generally just shut of the throttle an go and pick it up and off we go again. There no doubt il be purchasing a bigger say trex 550 next year, but for now the MSRX is great for what I need and £60?? Bargain Nick Edited By Nick Williams on 03/12/2012 23:06:20
  14. I've got some other cells here now that I'm going to be using and there rated at 'up to' 10C. There 160mah 1s Nano Tech from Turnigy. I'm not going to start charging at 1.6a but I should be fine with 0.5a to save a little time until I get a multi type lead? I'm not really bothered about lifespan provided I get 15ish cycles as there very cheap. With the multi lead, it has a set of bullet connectors to plug into the charger which then splits into 6 separate leads that go to each cell. What should I be reading on the screen and should the charger still be set to 3.7v 1S? Thanks in advance Nick
  15. Thanks for the replys! I've got the lead now and charged one of the cells at .07a but it took half an hour? The cell was at 3.88v when the cycle started? Does this not seem a little slow? It's a 14c rated discharge, but no charge rating is supplied. How high a rate would you deem to high? I was thinking of trying one possibly at .14a? Nick
