  1. Richards furry friends must have spoken to our posties as the order form arrived today! The cheque is in the post. Nigel
  2. The way our post is it will probably come the week after!

Yes, Thankyou Ron. I shall leave the nylon inners in place. Nigel

How do you manage to remove the hubs from the front wheels Ron?
  5. Thanks for the heads up on the servos Richard, I already have two of those. Run up the power train in my test jig (without prop) to check the esc and motor rotation direction. Still to turn the esc brake on. I have set up the model in companion, need to upload the TX, bind to SXR Rx and perform initial Rx calibration and all being well check stabilisation works as intended. Hopefully, working power and control systems should be ready to be fitted as the build progresses. Nigel
  6. Hi Richard, What servos are you planning to use? Nigel
  7. Got me too. Pretty sure I got hooked clicking on an account conformation link purporting to be from Nexus models. I can't believe I got caught by that one. Anyway, new card on its way after bank spotted small amount Lifewatch taken out of the credit card account. Thing is I thought the automated call from the bank was from scammers until I contacted the bank after the third call. I couldn't see any suspicious activity on the account as the bank had stopped the transaction so beware folks.
  8. I've also got an unboxed S8R which I will also have a go at setting up using the above info. If all looks OK I will try it with my WR Tempest. Nigel
  9. A Merry Christmas and Happy new Year to you all Nigel
  10. Just came across these recent posts. I sympathise David, many years ago we looked after a couple of hamsters at different times which both escaped. One from my brother and another from friends. One of them, I can't remember which, gnawed a perfect round hole in one of our hall curtains. As for a second model, a mossie has always been on my bucket list. Nigel
  11. Sorry Richard, I have 4S batteries so will go for either 12X6 or 12X5 Nigel
  12. I've a couple of Overlander 5000mAh lipos weighing 475gm and aprox 38X44X132mm. Would these be OK in the Tempest Richard? I am thinking of using these with a 3548 900Kv Overlander motor and 12X6 prop. Regards Nigel
  13. Hi Richard, a while back, you were talking about inexpensive motors (about £20) to power these models. Have you one in mind as I have no spare ones to use. This will be an interesting build for me as the last model I built was a glider called La Mouette around the early 1960's although I have become quite proficient at repairing foamies in the last few years!
  14. Put me down for a tempest please Richard Nigel
  15. Hi EarlyBird, thanks again for the help but there must be something wrong with my account. When I log in I am taken to My Account. If I navigate to RCM&E the system expects me to take out a subscription which My Account shows I already have. I will contact Mortons on Monday to sort it out.
  16. Like a lot of others I use Advanced Polyfilla lightweight filler. Does the job brilliantly and easily sanded down without adding too much weight.
  17. Had my MGTD since 1965, only let me down once - tracking across the rotor arm which must have been over 40 years ago. Still use it regularly but have to tie down the models with the hood down! Love it to bits. Had an MGB for over 50 years which I used as daily transport with a "breathed on" engine as we used to say. That only let me down once again with poor connection on the points (my fault). The problem running these cars these days is the poor quality of some of the spares.
  18. Thanks for the info EarlyBird but I've been logging in via that link but I can't see how to access the digital archive once logged in. I changed some of my account details but when I logged again the changes had not been saved.
  19. I have a digital and print subscription. I've logged in using my customer ID and can see my account. If I go to the RCM&E magazine I just get the option to subscribe, nothing about being able to view the archive. It's as if the system doesn't recognise I have a subscription.
  20. I was given a wot 4 foam e which had obviously gone straight in looking at the damage on the front end of it. There was also a slight wobble on the end of the prop shaft when I ran up the motor so I replaced the prop driver (collet style which slid off) and the motor shaft. I then ran up the motor again only to find there was still a wobble on the end on the shaft which I put down to the prop adaptor not being concentric at the prop clamping nut end but Ok at the motor end of the adaptor as it looked as if it was running true at the motor end.
  21. I did a lot of testing reversing servo direction in the inputs, mixers and outputs noting the corresponding trim directions concluding that the elevator signal is reversed. On the screen which shows the stick positions, when the elevator stick is moved down, its position on the screen goes up. In companion the stick position follows the control stick as you would expect. All other stick positions on the taranis screen follow the sticks correctly (but not the elevator)
  22. I also had problems with reversed elevator trim on my x9D Tx. Careful checking with a servo tester confirmed that there is a problem with the elevator gimbal wiring - somewhere it is reversed and I have to reverse the elevator throw in either Inputs or Mixers to ensure the trim switch moves the elevator in the correct direction.
  23. Taranis X9D+, OpenTx 2.3.14, XJT V2. Over the past few years I've also experienced odd behaviour with the trims. Last week I performed some detailed testing and discovered that with all servo directions normal i.e. positive, the elevator trim direction is opposite to the stick direction on the actual Tx (not in OpenTx). I have made the trims move in the correct direction by using negative weights in INPUTS on the elevator channel and it probably has been like this since setting up the model. On the screen on the Tx which shows the two stick positions in square boxes, the stick dot also moves in the opposite direction to the elevator stick movement. The other control sticks move in the correct directions. Everything is correct in OpenTx. Have I got a wiring problem in the Tx or have I missed something obvious here?
