  1. Hi Danny, Thank you for the quick reply.I agree silver is about the worst colour to apply closely followed by yellow!! A tin of paint is due here in Mid Wales in the next half hour. Will post update ASAP (technology permitting ) Thanks Mike
  2. Hi Danny, Just a word of thanks for the Chip Shop thread, and one question . What silver paint did you use for your Chippy ?? Thanks in advance Mike
  3. Hi all, I am sure I have seen scaled drawings of 1/6 scale pilot figures somewhere. Has any one made a bespoke pilot and found the answer to this. Thanks in advance Mike
  4. Hi Danny, Just a couple of questions, Have you flown your Chipmunk yet ,either with wires or wireless and also what motor did you fit, make and model would be interesting. Thanks in advance Mike
  5. Hi Richard,Allan and Geoff Thanks for your speedy reply's,the Watt Meter is now making sense, and my set up is within the limits So thanks and my kind regards Mike
  6. Hi All. I have a Tornado hi amp 100 dc watt meter, the green/mauve one,but no instruction manual. The 4 sets of figures on the readout are a mystery to me with the exception of the total voltage. so what should be the readings for the other 3 using say a 3s 2200 batt. and 40amp esc. Having been used to using Methanol as the Go Juice' changing over to Electric is a learning curve that is a bit sharp. Many thanks in advance Mike
  7. Thanks for all your hard work trying to tutor us into the dark areas of SCALE. I have all the tail feathers and 2 wing panels done for WB588 and the question of control throws was going to be my next thread. Wishing all you Chipmonkeys Happy Christmas and Hope Santa will understand. Regards Mike Matthews
  8. Hi Fellow Chippaters A memo to self is required (look and ye shall find) this is read usually about 30min after pressing the send button. I knew it was here somewhere. Well welcome back from your hols Danny you were missed . This is a great thread. Thanks Mike
  9. Hi Fellow Chippaters, I am sure I saw a list of wood and hardware required to build the D B chippy. Have got the wood pack from Traplett, and have the passport to Cosford sorted, but can't find this list . Can any one help ? Ta in advance. Mike rt
  10. Danny Fenton, A super thread, full of good information that can cross over to other projects. I have joined the happy band of Chipmonkeys and I'm just waiting for the wood pack to arrive. This will be my second d.b.Chipmunk. The first was totally scratch built, but I managed to collide with a high piece of solid ground (the flying field) so this is a good excuse to build another one .Attached is a photo of WB588 before said incident. As a possible tip for those that mold their own canopies from clear sheet over a wooden plug, if you mold a second one from white Plasticard or similar materiel this can then become the dummy framing . Well Happy Chipping Mike
  11. Alain, thanks for the information re the Zero Undersurface Colours, The full size that I am replicating is the Planes of Fame A6M5 in its original restoration colours and markings in 1978/9 . The green was fairly straighforward, the photos I have of 61-120 show a pale gray lower colour, not the green/brown that the IJN used. The mix that I have used looks about right, but hey I might be wrong.Regards Mike.
  12. Re the Zero colours, thanks cymaz and kevin b for your replies. It is as I thought a case ot the old 'Mark one eyeball' and a mixing stick, If I was doing a wartime Zero it would be as just as difficult gettig it right. Mike
  13. Hi Scale People Re the Planes of Fame Zero 61-120 in its first restored finish with the double White Lines on the rear fuselage. Question is what colour did they use for the undersurface, as from the photos i have it appears to be a very light gray and not the greenish hue that is recomended but the Plastic Scale Modelers for a Zero A6m.Hopeing that someone has been this way before and can come up with a paint make and name that would be suitable for a 6 foot span r/c version. Thanks in advance Mike
