  1. Has anyone any knowledge or experience of charging mobile 'phone batteries from the lipo chargers we use. Could be useful sometime when out on the flying field?

I use  Blinky Balancer when charging my lipos and recently purchased a 2 Cell  1200Mah  battery from a well-known supplier with a balancer connection  (the battery not the supplier!)  which does not fit.   The battery balancer connection  has one red lead and two black leads.     Can anyone tell me please what type of  socket I need,  and what order the leads should be connected to it?
  3.  Thanks Brian for you information.   The bipe is an old design by Vic Smeed which I am                adapting for electric RC. Chord of both wings =  5" Stagger (overlap)  =  2.125" Combined chord therefore =  7.125" so the C of G at 22% =  1.425" from the L/E of the top wing.   This places the C of G  0.7"  in front of the L/E of the lower wing.   Does this sound OK?

Can anyone tell me how to calculate the C of G for a biplane with staggered wings - e.g. A Tiger Moth ?     I am contemplating such a model (not the Tiggie) from a plan  but it does not have the C of G indicated.     Neither Martin Simons'  book nor the BMFA News article seem to cover this aspect , both referring to monoplanes only.

Following an incident last Sunday morning at the club's field the question arose regarding the correct method of lipo disposal.   There did not appear to be a definitive consensus among the members present, so - via email please because my browser  will not log on to Forum -  what is the current recommendation(s). This thread is being submitted via a library computer,  hence my request for an email response.   Thanks.

I have a battery charger - RC Line Multi Plus 12 Model No.RP-500 - which has served me well for a number of years and is now used as a supplementary to a Multiplex model which also allows PB and lipo charging. Unfortunately it has ceased to function and investigation reveals that a 16 pin DIL - TL494CN (9BC295M) - shows overheating by pins 5,6,7 and 8 although the PCB appears to be OK. The model shop from which I purchased the charger has been closed for some years following the sad death of the modelling owner and I do not know the source of supply. Could anyone suggest somewhere/somebody able to offer a repair sevice? I can dis-assemble so that only the PCB is available. Thanks.
  7. Can anyone please point me towards a possible source of the July/August 2000 edition of Flying Scale Models which featured the Peter Rake design of the Stahlwerk. Peter has generously offered assistance but I am seeking to purchase my own copy.
  8. The "arrival" of a clubmate's Easy Star yesterday afternoon severely modified the fuselage nose forward of the wing-mounting section to the extent that he is wondering whether anyone has a spare! The rest of us recommended black bag treatment! Any offers?
  9. Hello Nick. I think that the easiest way to help you is tolend you the original instructions that came with the kit so that you can photocopy as required. I shall happy to do this if you care to advise me of your address via [email protected]. My club flies 3 Easy Stars using 2 different prop. sizes and 3 different battery sizes/types!!
  10. Thanks Jonathan for your suggestion. Sounds like the answer, but never having used glass cloth, could you guide me with regard to type and weight please? The Easy Star is Multiplex's Elapor by the way.

I have just cyano'd the nose section of my Easy Star back on for the third time after a normal landing on lush grass (honestly), and I know that others have had to do the same on at least one occasion. The break usually occurs at the same position - where the rear of the cockpit opening joins the main body of the fuselage. Never having used foam before I am at a loss to know how this area can be reinforced. Any ideas appreciated!
