  1. Hi This thread may well have answered a question I had around the X8R and it’s use with the new FRSky X20. My original Taranis bit the dust after taking a swim in a flood. I was looking to move to the new X20, but wondered if I would need to flash or replace my X8R and X4R receivers. Looks like from this thread I can just flash them to V2 and they will be supported by the X20, is this correct.
  2. The hobby king blog stated yesterday that the warehouse closing down sale had begun and it was streamlining its operation. Today the blog said it’s uk warehouse was currently closed, due to a COVID outbreak. Read into it what you will, but it looks like the UK warehouse is closing, if not closed already.
  3. Hi, I too have discovered that the front login is not working, however I have managed to get in using the Forum log in. I am experiencing issues with this too, I had to reset my password to gain entry initially for some reason, then when I came back and tried logging in again, it told me my password was not recognised, and I ended up having to reset it a second time. Now before posting this I had to reset it a third time as again returning to the forum login tells me my password is wrong. I am using an iPad Pro and I use its key store to generate my passwords each time and save them for the site and I know I am entering the correct one each time I have tried logging in. Not sure what is going on but it seems to be accepting my generated password and iOS is storing it against the site in my keychain, it is then reusing it when I attempt to log in again, but the site is not accepting it. Each time I reset it I have logged out and then straight back in no problem, but it seems if I log out and return later it doesn’t like the password anymore. Really strange !
  4. Barrie I am in the fortunate position of being able to try out a 3d printer one of my work colleagues has one and is happy for me to borrow it for a while, nothing special just a hobby starter machine, so yes I will have one at my disposal. for a living I am a software developer, which people seem to think means I am naturally an expert at any piece of software on a computer, which clearly isn’t the case. However I am able to self teach and pick things up quickly from any media. I will check out your recommendations on software etc, I am a MAC user though not windows, so that may limit me somewhat. I will also check out the you tube videos etc. I am sure I will get the just of things, just need to start somewhere and see if I can learn enough to get going. As ever this forum and it’s members are helpful and come up trumps. I won’t hesitate to ask questions on my journey, and I appreciate all the help and pointers so far.
  5. Wow a lot to take in here. im not experienced in any cad or drawing package but just wanted to see if I could extract parts from the drawing and print them on a 3d printer as an experiment really. Not looking to print an entire plane or anything, was thinking of printing just a wing rib or a former. Got to learn somewhere.
  6. Hi Does anyone have any experience in converting pdf plans into software for 3d printing or CNC routing. Something like this  https://aerofred.com/details.php?image_id=80829&mode=search Edited By Darran on 26/04/2020 21:36:42
  7. thanks Andy, tried again here now and it’s working, weird.   before it was reporting a 503 server error. I’m a software developer, hence I have lots of devices my tracing showed a internal server error being returned. All is good now though so maybe a temporary glitch. 8. H anyone else not able to get to www.bmfa-rewards.co.uk at the moment. i tried on two windows devices, to Apple ones, one android one and just get cannot open page as server cannot be found.
  9. Posted by Andy Symons - BMFA on 01/11/2019 21:16:26: 3) Due to GDPR we doubt that the BMFA will be able to pass on Members details for registration with the CAA without their express permission. It may not be possible for the Club to give that permission on their behalf, we will wait & see. As long as the club makes it clear that by paying the £9 they are giving consent to be registered with the CAA its not a GDPR problem. Just a tick box on the joining/renewal form. Edited By Andy Symons - BMFA on 01/11/2019 21:16:42 This may be the case, but the club, BFMA and CAA have other responsibilities when storing our personal details under GDPR, have these all been addressed and the correct mechanisms in place, I would question If a club really knows what they are, or is geared for such things as a SAR request or right to be forgotten procedures. This however is not limited to the new registration, but it does heighten the risk.
  10. John Yes the controller does indeed plug into the receiver, my setup is X8R receiver with controller plugged into a spare channel 5. The TX is a Taranis X9D and I have a switch set up in my mixer page for Channel 5. But it does not work, when powered up the lights work but using the switch does not turn them off.
  11. If I go down the two receiver route, can I power them both from the same BEC using a y lead or do I need to provide an alternative power source. i assume that powering them from the same source will draw little more than I do today given the same servos in use in total and in effect the same zero redundancy I have today.
  12. Bob I had read that thread, which pretty much added to my confusion as to the use of the frsky decoder with analogue servos. Seems the decoder is sold as compatible, but people have had issues so seems risky.
  13. John i think when there is no controller a switch is definitely required, but in this case it seems to suggest the supplied controller can be operated from the tx via the receiver directly, but I don’t seem to be able to get this to work. This page suggests it can **LINK**
  14. Attilio Your right I did confuse the sbus with the s-port in my post. If I use two receivers do they have to both be x8rs and do they have to be connected in some way, or just both bound to the same model on the TX.
