I flew slope soarers and power models between the ages of 15 and 25 (1972 to 1982) then gave up the hobby because we lived too far from Winter's Hill near Bolton, and I couldn't make friends with oil, grease, and fuel. Radio equipment was also far too expensive for a Solicitor's Articled Clerk on minimum wage.

We live 20 minutes away from some of the best slopes of the Peak District so rekindled my interest in 2013. I am an instructor and webmaster of the Leek and Moorland Model Gliding Club www.lmmga.co.uk , but have a special interest in building balsa models, so am also a member of the Power Scale Soaring Association.

I fly power models on the beach at our caravan in Anglesey.
