  1. Thank you all for your inputs. Maybe I'll shoot for a very inexpensive unit just for my 1S .... Can anyone help me understand if the connector is the right polarity? These are the batteries I've ordered **LINK** This is a simple inexpensive charger for them **LINK** or even cheaper (no discharge) **LINK**
  2. Dear friends, I have 2 sets of LiPo batteries,a couple 3S 2200 mAh and 10 little 1S 250mAh ones. Former have a XT60 connectors and JST-XHR balance connectors, while the 1S batteries for the Mobula are these URUAV 3.8V 300mAh 40/80C 1S of which I don't know the charging connector name. So my usage would be charging sets (4-6-8) of the 1S or the couple of 3S I have. Budget not great but some future proofing welcome Of course good handling of charge and discharge rates, balancing and voltages are needed. Looked in the forum but all similar posts were VERY old and pointed to discontinued products. Thank you very much.
  3. Thank you very much John. Even though my ineptitude is worrying I wonder what, if anything, would I gain by ripping out the current old board and buying a new one supporting BetaFlight. Would the current old ESCs "understand" the protocols of the new board/firmware? Take care.
  4. Thank you Denis. That looks a lot like it, minus the gathered dust on mine Will use that info to find instructions and see if there's a newer firmware for it perhaps. Just back from a little practice flight finally with no wind at all and realized that the pitch and roll (right hand) stick is way too sensitive for my clumsy skills. Need to understand how to "desensitive" them in my DX6i configuration. Going to study a little before getting back to real life work Take care and may Aeolus be with you
  5. A number of years ago I bought a quad skillfully assembled by someone on this forum. I would love to look into the flight controller settings but I don't know how to recognize the board type and find instructions for it. Its a largish board, around 45x45 with 4 little press buttons on one side lableled S1 to S4 and a largish LCD screen on top of it on which when powered I read a large SAFE word and some other smaller writings about battery level, pitch and yaw angles. Thanks for any hint.
  6. Thank you very much indeed. It is amusing that I have landed on the very same page not more than an hour ago Take care and enjoy your flying!
  7. So I bit the bullet and heeded some of your suggestions, and ordered a Mob7 to practice quad flying indoors with my old but still trusted DX6i. Can anyone suggest a good setup from scratch guide for a newb like me? If available I prefer self paced guides rather than following a video at its speed. Thanks a lot.
  8. Dear friends, first of all let me thank you warmly for your advice. I am a medical doctor working in Italy and as you can imagine this epidemic is draining for all of us involved at any capacity. Taking a little time for myself alone, switching on the radio and the drone and having only that on my mind if only for a few minutes is a balm for my neurons, even if I am still utterly incapable to really fly this beast yet I would define my current drone piloting skill as "barely avoiding crashes" Lots of good ideas in your posts Frank, Ron, J, Simon and Chris which of course now prompt a few questions The idea of investing in a low cost, sturdy little indoor flyer is quite enticing. Would the Mobula (I think now they have reached the 7 version) work with my old but reliable little radio (Spektrum DX6i)? As a side project and if I learn a bit more with the little whoop I could then fit a camera and TX to my current beast In that case what goggles would you recommend as I'm nearsighted and therefore wear prescription lenses? What is a "box goggle"? Are the Eachine goggle mentioned above a good bet? Any part list for the whole video chain would be welcome. You all take care and happy flying.
  9. Dear friends, I've been trying to fly quads off and on for a few years but never really progressed from hovering in front of me and slightly moving around. As soon as the quad rotates my brain goes mushy and to avoid losing or breaking the drone or worst damaging anything on the ground I usually bring it down. So no experts to help me around in my area and this on and off attempts are not helping me to master flight. I wonder if buying some FPV platform might help me progress more easily. Before you completely dismiss the notion let me tell you that back in a distant past I rememeber not being able to fly on PC simulators, never made it, but then I got my sailplane license and progressed to being a decently capable pilot gaining my FAI gold badge with two diamonds Thank you for your opinions and experience and may you all be safe from this epidemic.
  10. Thank you all sooooo much. Two little questions if I may: a) What are the differences between the Easyglider Pro and 4 b) In case I would use it as a platform for aerial video in the future would your recommendations still hold true? I have an oldish radio I use with my quadcopter. That would be good for it hence only need to buy a receiver and LiPos for the take off motor ? Cheers.
  11. Thanks for the additional suggestions. I was amused looking at the Ka8 which looks a lot like the glider in which I've attained my pilot license, a venerable but dependable Bergfalke ! http://www.planephotos.net/photos/5749_Scheibe-Bergfalke-IV_OM-0902.jpg You all take care
