  1. Sorry to sabotage the thread, but seemed a good idea at the time!. Anyway, pretty sure it is the Viceroy, thx everybody.
  2. I am in the process of fitting two 70mm 12 blade 4s EDF motors to a 65" high wing model. The EDF's will be in nacelles under the wing with a neutral thrust line. My question is, how far out from the fuz do the EDF's need to be fitted? My thinking so far, is as close to the fuz as possible, so any minor mis match in thrust will not be as noticeable etc. Anybody any ideas please?.
  3. While we are on the topic, anybody any idea what model this is please? 65" Wingspan, 51" Long.
  4. Agreed, I have been running high end lipos in my 90mm EDF jets for a few years. Just interested in the current Lipo experiences of others for a low tech 70mm hack EDF.
  5. In the process of purchasing a couple of 6s 4000mah lipos for an EDF model. Torn between Turnigy High Power, HRB or GNB. What are the current thoughts chaps? They all have plus and minus points!
  6. I re-installed the SKYRC data logger software, and its now working perfectly. Having had a speed flea, this SKYRC is a much better product IMHO. Picks up satellites in about 20 seconds, as opposed to 5 minutes in some cases for the SF. Easy to read. Individual flights can be recorded and downloaded to the PC, showing a detailed map, track of model and a wealth of other info. We are holding an Easter comp. where the gizmo will be used by all competitors........should be fun!.
  7. After completing a few trial runs, the actual logger works a treat. Average height, max height, average speed, top speed and distance all fine. Compared to my cars speedo, more or less identical. There is a downside though! As far as I know, if the readings are recorded, the only way to clear them is via the software / computer. I tried a few times to get the download to work, but it either froze / locked up the computer etc. As I do not want to end up with frustrating hours trying to sort out my PC , I gave up. My system (windows 10) will not even let me completely remove it!. However, all is not lost, as the logger can still be used perfectly well, but not in recording mode. Not worth the aggro of trying to send it back to China etc.
  8. Brilliant as always Bonzo. Oddly enough I have been doing similar thrust tests, using a digital set of fishing scales. Hook of scales attached to tail of model, and other end to kitchen table leg. Worked a treat!.
  9. I have just purchased one of these for use at club fun fly events. Registers max speed, avg speed, avg height, max height and distance etc. On the face of it, a good bit of kit and the results of an event can be loaded onto the computer with a suitable map. Has anybody any experience of these, any gotchas etc?
  10. Thx John, useful tip for the future!
  11. I ended up using cellulose thinners which worked ok, I have decided to repaint the complete model camouflage colours, much easier than faffing about with the original colour scheme!. Something different up the field.
  12. Neddy, "Fishing bright light".....please can you point me in the right direction, as never heard of them!.
  13. Thats pretty much what I have experienced, thanks for a more technical explanation. I also used a digital set of fishing scales to measure thrust. One end attached to the model.......other to a table leg. Lots of interesting figures. Plus readings gleaned from my wot / what / watt / wat meter!.
  14. I have just purchased an Avanti S which has been stored for a couple of years in an attic. The white foam sections are dull and grubby. Before I start experimenting, can anybody recommend a product / method of restoring the finish please?. Not expecting miracles, just something to make it look a bit better!
