  1. Hi Guys Is there a plan for the Gyroo had a look but can't find one. Thanks
  2. Thanks Garham I've started a build log on my website **LINK** Keith
  3. Hi Graham I have the kit and I just about to start it. Do you have the details of the retracts you used. I can see several on HobbyKing. Thanks Keith
  4. VC10 is now finished and flew in here BOAC colours. Check my website **LINK** for details and video. Lauch was off a bungee which was a little bit scary but OK in the end. Finally have my hot wire cnc cutter made and working. Fancy doing another airliner but not sure which one. Have consider the VC7/V.1000 but it does look just like a Comet-4 Keith
  5. Hi Glenn   Wiring the motors as two pairs sounds a good idea. I've done that on my VC-10 with 4 EDF's and 4000mAH lipo's powereing each pair Soon be ready for its second flight.   Brown paper covering isn't that heavy on the Lanc and it certainly doesn't affect flight performance. One thing I did find even on 10 cells pushed as far forward as possible I still needed some lead to get it balanced but it flew really well, see the videos. I flew most of the flight on 1/2 throttle its really just a big glider with some motors.   My advice 1. Use 2.4ghz 2. Use a separate receiver battery. All my woes were down to loss of signal partly my own fault on the last crash. 3. The oval tail fins are prone to being knocked off so I've use some triangular balsa on the underside and blend the ends in, Hardly noticeable but makes them a lot stronger.   One of our flying club members has the Multiplex cargo and he's made it look like a B-17 and used 3 bladed props and he's programmed his transmitter so he can power on or off the outer or inner pairs, he uses two lipo's one for each pair. Says once he's up it flies on 2 motors with hardly any loss of performance.   Hope that helps.   Lets see some pics when your done   keith     @import url(http://www.modelflying.co.uk/CuteEditor_Files/Style/SyntaxHighlighter.css);@import url(/CuteEditor_Files/public_forums.css);
  6. Hi Peter No moulding just made with some balsa and pink foam (XPS). I cut a rectangle out of the XPS and used a hole saw to cut a hole just slightly bigger than the motor. Then used a hole saw to cut a balsa ring which I glued on over the hole. Then just a fair bit of sanding . There is also a hole in the rear of the nacelle for air flow over the speed controller.   Keith @import url(http://www.modelflying.co.uk/CuteEditor_Files/Style/SyntaxHighlighter.css);@import url(/CuteEditor_Files/public_forums.css);
  7. I'm on my third rebuild of the Priory Lanc and have a website with by build and some video's. I'm converting it to brushless on an original wing and have some photos of the motor's mounted. I'm rebuilding with a new fuse and hope to have it ready soon.   9. Thanks Guys   I knew somebody would know of one.   Keith @import url(http://www.modelflying.co.uk/CuteEditor_Files/Style/SyntaxHighlighter.css);@import url(/CuteEditor_Files/public_forums.css);
  10. Hi   I'm thinking of building a Vanguard and have found this http://freercplans.com/img-vickers-vanguard-510.htm but I wondered if anyone new of any plans or any issues of magazines that have some good pictures I can use to make a plan   I've got the Vickers bug now after reading Sir George Edwards biography   Thanks @import url(http://www.modelflying.co.uk/CuteEditor_Files/Style/SyntaxHighlighter.css);@import url(/CuteEditor_Files/public_forums.css);
  11. Hi   I'm looking to build a Vickers V.1000/ VC7 http://www.ianbottillustration.co.uk/images/v1000video/Port-vickers-main.html   This was Vickers airliner to beat the Boeing 707 but sadly due to some numpties in government and BOAC it was cancelled 5 months before it was finished.   I believe the wings was of the same design as the Vickers Valiant and I'm looking for a plan preferably in CAD format of the Valiant. I've searched the internet and found some drawings images of the Valiant but nothing in CAD format   I've already done a large VC10 http://www.rckeith.co.uk/vc10 and this seems like a good project.   Thanks for any help   Keith @import url(http://www.modelflying.co.uk/CuteEditor_Files/Style/SyntaxHighlighter.css);@import url(/CuteEditor_Files/public_forums.css);
  12. Thanks guys. I get it now, I was sort of there,its filled in the gey areas. Real good info  Keith
  13. Hi   I've been flying electric for a couple of years now, but still find picking a motor for a plane a struggle. Let me explain.   If a ARTF or a kit says you need a 300 Watt motor do I pick a suitable kV and then just divide 300 by 12 (3 cell lipo) to get the current and see which motor is the best match. I know you use the watt per pound rule to work out how may watts you need but how do I pick a motor to match that.   Thanks for any advice   Keith @import url(http://www.modelflying.co.uk/CuteEditor_Files/Style/SyntaxHighlighter.css);@import url(/CuteEditor_Files/public_forums.css);
  14. @import url(http://www.modelflying.co.uk/CuteEditor_Files/Style/SyntaxHighlighter.css);@import url(/CuteEditor_Files/public_forums.css); Hi Everyone   Well I started this post in 2007 and yesterday the 30th Jan 2011 my VC10 took to the air. It flew very well and here's a link to the maiden on youtube.   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7kR-nZucRVI Still not finished but this was a proving flight .   15. Hi A flying buddy of mine has built a flying saucer from a plan he's enlarged by  20 %.  He used the CG of the 20% enlarged plan.  It does fly but seem very tail heavy.  I've wondered whether  just using the CG as marked on the 20% enlarged plan is right,  I've used some of the on-line calculators for traditional models and that works OK but finding the MAC and Neutral Point of a saucer doesn't seem easy.  Does anyone have any suggestions    Thanks   Keith  @import url(http://www.modelflying.co.uk/CuteEditor_Files/Style/SyntaxHighlighter.css);@import url(/CuteEditor_Files/public_forums.css);
