  1. Does anybody out there have an old instruction book for a DSM Aerostar 69 ? I'm restoring one & need to know what size the Ailerons should be cut. Also what the down thrust & right thrust the engine should have. Many thanks Ian
  2. Quick technical question. The plastic outer sleeve on my 7C antenna has broken so it wont fold away or stay in position, If I tape the antenna in position will this effect the range or the operation at all?
  3. Hi, I'm resurrecting an old Gangster 63 from 20 years in the attic, does anybody have the control throws & centre of gravity measurement. Many thanks Ian
  4. I'm using all the channels on this receiver apart from channel 5 can I plug the battery into channel 5 without damage or do I need to use a y cord into channel 7. Thanks
  5. Thanks for the advice, I'm coming to the conclusion it's not a happy battery and is going back Ian
  6. Hi, I have a new Futaba system and have just charged it for the first time for 18 hours, I put a battery checker on the receiver and within 20 mins it was flat. The red charging light turned green after only 3 hours. Could this be a faulty battery or faulty charger. Thanks
  7. Thanks for the advice, I need to dust off the planes first. I may be way to set in my ways to go electric but you never know!
  8. Just getting back into flying after a long break, I am planning on resurrecting a loaded dice and an Aerostar 62. This has probably been asked many times in my absence but why does nobody produce rear exhaust engines anymore to be used with a tuned pipe? These planes originally had Hanno Specials in them (long since sold) which apart from the power, fitted neatly with no side exhaust pipe sticking out. I'm sure there is a simple answer, also could anyone recommend a modern day alternative. Many thanks Ian
  9. Hi, Just returning to the hobby I have bought myself a Futaba T7C with a R617FS reciever, I have lots of expensive servos from when I used to fly 10 years ago. When i set up the system the 3 Futaba 9101's (coreless Servos) I'm using start buzzing, the 148 I have for the throttle doesn't. They don't buzz with the transmitter turned off and nothing is catching or binding and they operate perfectly normally. I haven't flown yet but wondered if anyone has any thoughts on this I don't remember them buzzing quite this much. Thanks Ian
  10. Thanks for the advice, The model in question is your standard high wing 64" trainer probably not fair of me to name a manufacturer in case it was just a rogue one, I used to build F3A from scratch so there is probably some OCD on my part. I will report back on how it fly's Ian
  11. Hi, Finally returned to the hobby I have enjoyed for 40 odd years now, Thought I'd start with a trainer as I haven't flown for 10 years, ARTF is a very new concept for me having built most of my planes from scratch. Is it normal for the kit to not fit together as smoothly as shown in the instructions? and to have a few minor parts missing i.e. Pushrods. Also to require major surgery to enable the tail to be at 90% to the fin. It was under a £100 so did I just get unlucky? And would the build quality will be better the more I spend? Still very much looking forward to flying it IB
  12. Thanks for all the help, I have written my list for the 25th just need to see if her indoors reads it!
  13. Many thanks, I'm thinking I may go with Futaba rather than start to file bits off.
  14. Hi, Just getting back into this after a long break, I have been offered a spectrum transmitter & receiver, but I have lots of old Futaba servos some very high spec, can I use these on a spectrum system? Many Thanks
  15. Just getting back into flying after a 14 year break for kids. I have 2 Aero star 62's one completely finished with less than 10 trimming flights on, air retracts flexible engine mount etc. Was fitted with Hanno Special (since sold) 1 3/4 built with all accessories. Both would need engine & radio gear Before I dig them out of the attic I wondered if anybody would be in the market for these models. Ian B
