  1. There are sadly no winners in this situation. Just look at the publicly available accounts and you don't need to be Sir John Harvey-Jones to see why we are where we are. I'm surprised many folk are surprised. The figures are self explanatory, and the writing was all over the wall I'm afraid for a while. The loyal following and the people here who invested in the new projects all in good faith are left with uncertainty, and bitterness, which is wholly understandable, as the owners appeared to let things continue, with you guys and Jon. knowing the inevitable was on the cards. I truly hope AGC are able to complete the items as a parting professional and reputational gesture and with Jon's admirably principled approach to his customers, the chapter has a happy ending. Fingers crossed for you all. Here's hoping.
  2. Umm. I find petrols vibrate, I find cyno is brittle and won’t like vibration. I pin my Clevis through the rod and use a less brittle glue.

  7. I'm not actually, but have considered many times. I too have the run of the mill extra's, 3D stuff and enjoy those, but as you say, the F3A stuff from that era tend to be a positively different experience altogether. The model which I fly alot and has a little of both is the Fliton Inspire 60 with a YS... probably my favourite to fly. I'll look out for the UKCAA meet ups, but from memory, not too many near Manchester
  8. Forgot to say, and for those who cant read the stickers or notice them... Dave Smith Excelsior 150.. Undercart moved out of wings to just in front of the leading edge on the fus.. better on grass strips. I do find models from this era tend to fly very very well indeed, as they had to be designed for that. Once the ARTF Extra, Yak's edges etc came in, they kind of took over, but if you get a chance to build something from back in the day, I have found they are really nice to fly and are improved even more by modern radio, materials and power plants, leading to lighter AUW.. etc..

  10. In this situation, I think Jon's advice is sensible, in terms of giving yourself the best odds to succeed. I have many corona servos operating fine in smaller models, mostly midi mini, and micro size, aswell as many many futaba, Savox, Hitec..hyperion, sanwa, Emax JR etc.. but then again, I have built up some experience and know what has worked for me in which application. It is true when the "Chinese" type brands entered the market there lots of reports of quality control, more so than the more regular brands, but nowadays if they are legit and not copies, then the news of servo issues, tends to be somewhat similar across the board, with some notable exceptions. Given personal experience I dont use Towerpro, and NewPower, I'm sure there are good ones out there, but for me, I saw poor quality, poor centering etc, so given the wealth of choice, I have no need to go back there. Stick to the less risk brands given you are a returner.. and then go from there.

  14. Must admit, I am slightly disappointed by the lack of scale crash photo's. The very least, I would have expected is the pile of bits to be in a field in the south of England, maybe some scorch marks!, flames etc hahahaha. Building lightness is an art, one which not all can perform well.

  17. Hi all, I thought i'd treat myself and get a limo to the office today, I spent £300 hiring it but discovered that the fee doesn't include a driver. Can't believe I've spent all this money and I have nothing to chauffeur it.
  18. she's just over 3K Jon, and then after about 10 seconds, settles around 3K, and then will eventually still pool up if I dropped the trim a notch and left it any lower.. on a twin needle, it would indicate the "hanging on" is a symptom of being too lean on the bottom end, but since this is an airbleed, it doesnt apply. so not perfect, but not too bad.. onwards and upwards. I did get chance to try tanks of 20% and 10% nitro and it was noticeably much better on the 10%, despite not much movement on the main needle, would probably be better again on 5%, but no one has any in the club (I might get some next time I order), so good shout Jon. You learn something new everyday. Thanks again.
  19. Hello all. I think I am there. It seems lower nitro and a new ring (changed this week), has given me a tick over of about 7.5/10, which is adequately doable. The ring will probably bed in and improve further, plus in the air will no doubt alter things a little. Thanks all.

  22. Hi All So, I tried some lower nitro fuel, only had 10% and slightly improved but still not acceptable. So.. I removed the engine from the airframe and stuck it on a test bed. Before running, I checked the clearances and they were towards the loose end of the scale (0.04-0.1), so nipped them up and noticed a little improvement in compression. Fudged my test bed, and mounted it inverted, with the tank (not the one in the ariframe), in the same position as that on the model.. And it is now fine. slightly high, but perfectly doable. I think the combination of lower nitro, slightly increased compression and a new tank have got me to a satisfactory position. So, the engine will be reinstalled into the airframe, run under the same conditions. If any issues then the tank will be removed, checked and swapped if necessary... getting there IMG_1912.MOV
  23. Mornin all, I was a bit quiet on the forum yesterday as I had to go to my uncles funeral, he was a railway enthusiast and his last wish was to be cremated in the furnace of a steam engine, he finally got his wish...........If he were here he would have been chuffed to bits
