Thanks Ade, It's good to know there are no major changes in the handling. getting a flight done is a big step and those little changes will feel more worth doing now. good stuff, keep at it, If only the need to pay bills would go away I'd be joining you sooner.   2. well done, looks great. did you have any issues with the extra side area at the nose? I note your comment that it tracked well ,but how was it in turns etc? that is something that has been worrying me,although I am still some way off yet. your cockpit detail really sets things off, I am afraid I have made structural decisions that won't allow me to go anywhere near that level of detail, please keep posting on here as flying continues i would love to hear more impressions and that may even motivate me to crack on a bit more with mine. again well done!   5. good luck to all at the Orme tomorrow. Sorry I won't be there ,and due to work pressure I won't even have my T'bird finished for the Manilla slopefest where I will be from the 14 to the 18 of this month, I will have my Vampire and a pushy cat from Xmodels tho' so won't be totally PSSless. again have a great time and I have been impressed with the results so far as well as learning a few tricks.   6. Looking great, I especially like the switch and the glow in the exhaust. Mine won't be finished in time to take it to Manilla slopefest as I have been working too often. but I am going with some other gliders and will submit some pics on my return. good luck with your maiden (shouldn't be far off now) and i hope you get to the Orme. cheers, Graham

Hi, I really like the glass fairing around the elevator snake/horn coupling can I use that one ? you must be happy about the amount of lift you expect to get to be fitting drop tanks I am fretting something awful about how heavy mine is getting , and while I still hope to fly it at Manilla slope fest in Sept I am some way behind you and my lack of skills means catching up may take some time. you keep up the great work in the meantime as I am sure I am not the only one benefitting from your interesting solutions to things. looking forward to seeing the fibreglass process. cheers, G

Hi Ade, good to hear you are on your way, I was lucky enuf to get some 48" sheet so didn't need to join things, I would say a scarfe join would be ok as there is a heap of support with thick balsa top and bottom of the fuse in that area. will you be glassing the fuse? as that will also help. my fuse is partly assembled with nose and tail pinched? together and a bit of shaping done around the nose. I think it is looking pretty close now so have made a start on the wings and am prepping for the intake covering, things are a bit slow at present with work but should look up over the next little while. Hi, I'm not sure if this is the place to ask but, I have recently bought turbocad for mac and wonder if anyone knows of an airfoil type programme that is compatible with said MAC, I am having an attempt at an own design PSS private jet. very simple straight taper wings etc and I can develop the ribs by hand ( is that digitally or not?) but would like to add to the learning curve by doing the whole thing in CAD it is mostly drawn up now with only ribs and formers to develop so any advice would be much appreciated. something with similar capabilities to Profili would be ideal.   10. Thanks for that link John, I had no idea about all that. life is fun isn't it ? you never seem to stop learning. I have no pics at present but my TA4 is making progress, with a start on the wing skins now that the fuse is boxed up and nose and tail pulled together. I am trying to decide whether to add TE stock either side of the fin to give a little more room for the elevator controls and allow the area above the Exhaust to be closed in : a bit more scale, It all seems likely to add weight tho' and we don't often have your 40 - 50 mph winds here 15 t0 20 is more common and I am worried that the A4 won't like the lighter conditions . cheers G
  11. Looks lovely - better than flat sides for sure. It looks like only a minimal bit of effort to make it operable from this state. I'd go for it, but then I do love having a rudder on my PSS lumps Thanks, perhaps on the next one I'll use rudder, this one will probably get brakes instead. G
  12. good stuff Phil, I like the blow by blow you are presenting. for quite an easy model there are a few traps/hard bits , that you are demonstrating very well. any deviations from your techniques would appear to be at our risk .G

Thanks Phil, It is just a bit of fun really, Should have looked at making it operable? still couldn't resist adding some sort of effect here as it is quite a large feature of the A4 generally. am likely to go with balance area's on the elevator and ailerons too. I realise that the catch factor may lead to easy damage there but what the hell!. G

I voted once a fortnight, but that is limited only by available winds, I love the slope here in Australia , quiet, great view, flying with the eagles/hawks or even seagulls when on the coast. nice when it is scratchy lift and you have to work it , nice when it is booming and you can play the fool, sometimes it is even good to have company on the hill.
