  1. Ive been emailing with Glen this past week and had no problems
  2. Posted by Chris Walby on 09/01/2021 18:59:22: Hi, George's (4-Max) set up is on his web site and if in doubt give him a phone call to discuss your requirements. Looking at the videos its not short of power using his spec. PS IMHO 3 blade props don't perform as well as a 2 blade and there are those that display with a three blade and fly on two blade props. Plus if using std/pusher props there is less choice and even less with three blades. I'm guessing that George is really busy, have tried ringing on several occasions and have sent 2 emails as per his voicemail message but no reply yet. I'm in no rush so not urgent.
  3. I have got hold of an ESM/YT F7F Tigercat which I am going to electrify. I have seen the 4 Max recommended set up but havent had a reply to an enquiry re 3 bladed props so havent decided on a set up yet. Has anyone got the above aircraft and if so what set-up are you using, preferably with 3 bladed props for a more scale look.
  4. Hi All I have got hold of an ESM/YT Tigercat, brand new but with some building done. Does anyone know of a good colour match film for that used originally, the original owner got glue all over the tailplane which looks awful so I want to recover it. TIA
  5. No Eurovision Song Contest.....never watched the actual programme but the build up to it was difficult to avoid especially if, like me, you like listening to Ken Bruce. No Football.......say no more Bad point...no motorsports either
  6. Chris   People use all different types of paints. A lot of it will depend on what you are powering the aircraft with, not all varnishes will tolerate petrol or glow fuel. I know of some people that use the Ronseal Diamond hard clear varnish, applied by roller , on petrol powered warbirds and they have found it petrol resistant. I did a test peice recently and found that although you can spray this varnish it needs watering down by around 50% at which point its not petrol resistant.  If you have electric aircraft or gliders then I would suggest this is a good varnish to use at it remains flexible and gave good results through the airbrush. As an aside, I am currently using cellulose paints bought online and they spray really well and dry really fast, although petrol proof in its own right I have also given the planes a coat of cellulose clearcoat for added durability. I use filler primer as it is much better at dealing with slight imperfections and just sand it well back.     Edited By Patrick Marsden on 22/04/2020 13:36:45
  7. Whilst it doesnt sit well with me I see no alternative. When I left school in the early 1980's I worked for a company in the UK modelling trade and it was doing well. Enter the Asian products, all mass produced and much cheaper and the UK modelling industry died off. Even local model shops have died off, part due no doubt to the internet and availability of goods dispatched from China that arrive much quicker than stuff ordered from elsewhere. I would love to stop our reliance on Chinese products but cannot see us ever being able to compete
  8. Ken Thanks for the email and info on this thread. I will look at your thread on the tailwheel. Not likely to do much on my Hurricane over the summer months ( if the weather plays ball ) but I will post some info when I get on with it. Onetenor Thanks for the welcome. Will look at aeromodeller forum. Pat
  9. Just building in general although as I get older I dislike it less. Quite enjoy the finishing/covering and equipment installation.
  10. Nice and smooth no matter what type of plane I am flying. Its particularly useful when aerotowing, mainly with the tug but easier on the tug pilot if the glider is behaving. Scale has to be flown in a scale like manner or whats the point of it? Small electrics for those lovely summer evenings. Electric edf for those silly, very low, fast passes.
  11. Have only just registered with this site and seen this thread.....WOW !! As the previous owner of a Rawle 1/4 Hurricane with another now in the workshop I am obviously a lover of the breed. The detail being put into this build is beyond my skill/patience but I have been encouraged to at least make an effort in detailing this one. One of my first challenges is to build a scale tailwheel assembly and look at making the main undercarriage more realistic than the standard Unitract items in place at the moment. I have bought this as as a flown but not completely finished model but have stripped all the covering etc of for LMA inspection as it had never been registered. My previous model weighed 23kg so Im not optimistic this model will be much lighter.
