  1. was expensive as you can see, but now at £299 seems to be quite a package
  2. The Parrot Disco is a fixed wing drone with FPV https://www.parrot.com/uk/drones/parrot-disco#parrot-disco As ii's been available in the UK for sometime now, I was hoping for some information regarding flying performance etc..
  3. I have the Turnigy 22260 3000Kv 650W motor (EDF OUTRUNNER) with a Turnigy Trust 70A SBEC and I'd like to fit it to a 10 blade fan unit and fly my Durafly Sea Vixen. Can I ask what the maximum battery 'size' I can use ? Thanks Roger

  5. Will be using the Evolution 20 where the manufacturer recommends the ignition system should run with a 2 cell lipo - when I connect the 'other side' of the kill switch to the receiver won't the voltage be to high ?
  6. and the problem gents - tx throttle epa set at 100% full throttle but only 80% closed - adjusted both to 100%, 'tune' played and the motor started ! Thanks again for your generous support Watch this space as they say, sure to have further questions Roger
  7. Check the cut off voltage on the Esc Sam - how do I do that Sam ? Have you programmed the ESC? - how do I do that Dave ? do you have the throttle at minimum ? Esc will not arm unless throttle is moved to minimum, you may even have to drop the throttle trim down also. - it was set to 'closed' to avoid the motor everything suddenly kicking off - will try with trim down as well So are we saying that a 14.8 volt motor will run with an 11+ volt supply (3 cell) ? Roger
  8. Thanks for that John, thought that might be the case although I may have considered something from Hobbyking that calls itself a Pitts Muffler for a 26cc engine (£27.00) but doesn't say if it will fit the Turnigy - I'll have to contact them Roger
  9. But the box says displacement 32cc, so is it 26 or 32 ? I know it's a cheap gas variant (why I bought it !) but even so, it is very noisy. Does anybody know if another muffler is available for this model ? Thanks roger
  10. Hi Keyword Help - Still learning much about electric flight Just finished my Durafly Sea Vixen and with all installed I thought I'd run the motor It's a 14.8 volt motor and although I've yet to purchase a 4 cell lipo I thought I'd 'give it a go' with a 3 cell but the motor doesn't run despite the fact that all the surfaces work. I noticed when connecting the battery that the usual electronic 'bleep' wasn't there ! Regds Roger
  11. Sounds good John, Just finished installing the aileron servo's tonight, had a quick look at the fan housing and all seems to be a snug fit. As this is my first edf unit and I have the Changesun 10 blade to fit, I'm a little confused about the supplied washers in particular, which one goes where I'm assuming that I've to use the supplied alloy shaft to place over the motor drive shaft in order that tightening will achieve a tight 'grip' and to do this I will first pass this shaft through the back of the fan and then offer it up to motor drive shaft. Once this is in place, use the bog standard nut and washer to tighten from the 'other end'. roger
  12. Hello Bill Well I'm about ready to start the Sea Vixen, seem to have spent hardly any time with the model after opening the box to see it was all there. How did your's fly ? What about forum comments (not this one) regarding the motor wires affecting the airflow through the fan - is that a comment to ignore ? Do you have any more close ups of the motor / fan installation ? Cheers roger
  13. Should I be looking at a ubec speed controller ? I understand that in the event of a motor failure then I would still have control of the flight surfaces ? Thanks for all the help with this one guys roger
  14. also...which servo's are you fitting ? were you able to buy all the servo / control surface linkages ? thanks roger
  15. Kiwicanfli ! "I added a CS 10 blade fan, 2300kv motor and 60 amp plush ESC." Can you tell me something about the motor and esc - type, price and where from and what battery you're going to use ? Thanks roger
  16. Helpful pictures John, What motor is that and what esc / battery setup are you going for ? Did you try to balance the fan ? cheers roger
  17. Sea Vixen arrived yesterday and she looks good - as for the CS10 blade which I ordered on the 23rd, it arrived today - 7 days from HKong ! HELP - Now it's time for a bit of homework to help with the motor choice, learn about speed controllers or esc's and ubec / sbec etc...the ic world is much easier to understand. For information, the man in HKong is Rocky Law, Rocky's RC Models and his email address is [email protected] - received this email response to my question about balancing:- "Hi my friend, thanks for your order. Please don't worry about the balance. A multi-blades fan unit is very easy to do the balance. You just need to find out where is the heavier point, and then add some epoxy to anothers side to balance it." Just put the fan in my prop balancer it it doesn't appear to have a 'heavy point'
  18. Hello Bill, Well I've ordered the Durafly Sea Vixen (ARF) from our HK friends, it's shown as an 'in stock' item at the UK warehouse so I'm expecting delivery next week. I've also ordered the CS 10 blade from rock models hk so I'm not expecting to see that until.... I'm a little concerned about the 'balance' situation with this unit, but let's wait and see what the info says. Will start my homework about the recommended motor / battery / servo and speed controller setup Sure to ask you for more information cheers roger
  19. Thanks Bill for all your help and information - can't believe that these 9 / 10 blade units are not stocked in the uk, it's not as if they're too expensive to hold a stock of and hurt the pockets of our poor supporting traders ! Have been flying ic for many years and haven't come across such poor product support - We've seen one new member at our club who turned up with the Vampire complete with the CS 10 blade and now there's at least 6 or 7 of us who want to have one now and not in a months time. Have emailed BRC Hobbies about the (expensive) Lander units, I've simply asked them to respond with details of the edf airframe and 10 blade unit that I can buy 'off the shelf' - be interesting to see what they say. Favourite at the moment is either the Vampire or Sea Vixen **LINK** roger
  20. that looks and sounds incredible - is that 'new' Wemotec a 9 blade version and if so, where can get one ? cheers
  21. Thanks Bill I read about the 'slicing' from another forum, he was obviously one of the 'experts' that our hobby has an abundance of ! I don't have the kit yet but from the HK site pictures, did you 'open up' from the top side and roughly how large was the opening ? Was the 12 blade 70mm ? Only an ic man would not understand your comments regarding:- heavier aircraft, bigger battery hence lower kv. Would you mind telling what that all means ? Thanks again
  22. Want to try my hand at a Ducted Fan Jet from the Hobbyking selection and from what I've 'heard' from the 10 blade fan units either the Changesun or one of the HK units, I would love to have one ! I may well choose to buy one of the models already fitted with the standard EDF unit and remove it for the 10 blade. Has anybody info about retrofitting any of these models ? I would be concerned about the amount of work involved with a particular model. I've heard that to retrofit the Durafly Vampire involves almost slicing the fuselage in half ! thanks
  23. Clearly quadcopters will become a favourite with existing and new members, it's going to be a way forward for our hobby. How many of you 'out there' have your club struggling with "what is a quadcopter, helicopter or fixed wing" If it is a helicopter then I'm assuming that he will have to obtain a helicopter 'A' and until he does, he'll be buddying up with a helicopter man. If the case, should he take his 'A' using the quadcopter or has he to buy / use a helicopter ? We recently had an FPV flyer (fixed wing) join the club and he had to buy a fixed wing trainer to obtain his 'A' before being allowed to return to his fpv foamie and now we're telling him that his FPV spotter has also to hold a fixed wing 'A' What's happenning 'out there' with regard to these problems ? cheers roger
