Just getting round to populating the Flyinflynn boards and am finding the GPS module a bit hard to find , HT1818Z3G5L in UK . AliExpress has them but will not ship to UK according to website .
Anyone got a contact for them I don't want to bodge another unit in unless I have to.

FlyinFinn I've played with the XIAO but not familiar with the others . If you have any spare boards I'll gladly pay costs ( the bin is getting full ) plus postage .
Cheers

FlyinFlynn if you are UK based would you be interested in selling some pcb boards to offset your costs ? I'm a complete numpty when it comes getting circuit boards done , last lot I ordered ended in the bin.

Thanks everyone something to get me interested putting the E back into RCME . I copied completely a GPS/Arduino data logger with SD card from the internet and made a couple for lads at my club with just a few alterations to the code to display speed etc . The format of the output isn't right to display on Google but I will have a look at the code above and see if I can work it out . I've got an homemade Arduino Frsky GPS logger I got that to display in the Frsky suite the location and height data. The SD card version just displays location, height, speed and time which is all the CAA want for +25Kg models I think .
Nice to know someone else is tinkering and getting results .

Still slow 5 minutes this Sunday before it let me in !

I've still got a works issued Fluke with a calibration sticker dated around late 90s which works fine except the case is araldited together and has tape around the case ( hard life) .

Could be Mr Putin , funny how you forget one war when another kicks off ( Gaza).

Maybe the CO will rotate to a new posting next year ?

I've noticed that not many fliers have the old Nimh tester that puts a load on and displays on leds - good or bad. I rummaged around and used a cheap voltage display ( 3-30+ volts) and a switch that puts a 20ohm load across the battery . This gives a current of about 300mA on 6v and 250mAh on 4.8v a good load .
What would you think an acceptable voltage drop at that current draw should be ? I was thinking no more than 0.2 to 0.3 volt drop on a fully charged battery , anyone else got any thoughts ?

Another for the Cox Stuka control liner when I was 12 about 1970 , should really have had a helper to fly as the inevitable happened and it didn't survive .

Does anyone know for sure I'd the Tundra wing struts are structural , the wing is pretty stiff without ?
The reason my friend dumped one in a tree yesterday we got it back but the strut has torn a hole in the wing where the fastening used to be . Anyone used one without ? It's 2nd hand and little tatty so no great loss if it claps ! That's the smaller Tundra not the Grand Tundra .

Little more specific but the Amateur Radio courses run by clubs would be a good start , there are 3 levels and give a good grounding in electronics . Plenty of clubs running the courses and providing help .
My personal introduction no longer exists 3 years of Nautical College leading to Radio Officers ticket , very in depth course but things have moved on since the 70s.

Has anyone got a figure for a DLE20cc on a Menz 17x8 wooden prop , I'm getting 7000rpm is this about right ?

Hi,
I fired up openXsensor and built up an Arduino Nano with BMP280 module , all worked fine after the I2C address was corrected to 0x76 not 0x77 . When I tested the module I got its I2C address I got Vspd , Alt and temperature but on my Frsky TXs I can only see Vspd and Alt not temperature . How do I add the temp as well to the data ? is it easy or a bit of a faff . Can't seem to find any info on this .
Cheers in advance

I've been down the Apprentice route as a beginner and only felt really in control when I swopped out the AS3X Rx for a standard one . I was not the only one to find that either the Apprentice is a really forgiving beast anyway , nicer to fly with a normal receiver anyway . It doesn't bite or stall unless your really inept and I've often wondered why it had AS3X in the first place .

Another nod for e.calc , always found it reasonably accurate when checked with a power meter . Very good for fine tuning I.e. balancing current/wattage/prop size .

Here's a rather weird problem with a QX7S Access TX and my Windows 10 desktop. Whenever the USB is plugged in the tx asks is it a joystick or storage , OK so far . If you select storage it says it can't find a driver because its unrecognised , a common problem but messing with drivers didn't help . Tried changing cables to no avail but one common thing was the USB extension lead from PC to my desktop , now this extension is fine with my external hard drive and other USB items . I tried it without and it worked perfectly plugged right into PC , so much for Amazon USB extension leads , not faulty all the time just under certain conditions . Weird and an absolute time waster of an exercise.

Good film , just a pity about the Landrover (not made until 1948) and BF108s masqueraded as BF109s and some of aerial scenes were obvious models . Otherwise a pretty good film .

Anyone selling a QX7 or QX7S Access transmitter , maybe upgrading ? Preferably working but would take non working if complete . Cash waiting for right radio , can collect within reasonable radius of Manchester . Brian

Boxing it up for return to Logic RC just now , last time they had it back within 3 days FOC can't hope for that this time . Maybe mine had a bad batch of trim switches I assume they are all the same ones .
-
Hi
Has anyone experienced failure of the trim switches on this radio , my rudder trim (mode 2) has failed the switch is all wobbly inside . This radio has been away twice already and had firstly the aileron/elevator pair replaced and lastly I asked for all 4 to be replaced after yet another failure . Its lives in a nice cut out box with stick protectors and isn't abused at all , as for the rudder trim can't remember last time I touched it apart from a new model setup . This seems a high failure rate for 4 year old radio to me , anyone had the same ?

I'll fit it and monitor the fades , if sensible I'll leave it .

You know what it's like when you get a new module to program , at first it won't compile because the libraries are incorrect ( hours wasted ) then it won't upload . More time wasted until someone on the Internet mentions you have to push the boot switch while connecting ! Knowing that would have saved me hours but its tinkering in something new so hey-ho . ESP32_C3 getting to like the the finicky little devil now I know how to talk to it .
