  1. Not quite on topic but Edge Tx Companion is now available and appears to be backwards compatible with Open Tx . Not tried it yet just watched the video on you tube may install it as its a good tool for backups and tinkering .
  2. Just put the rx on and used a calibrated bench power supply and it's accurate to .01 of a volt , impressive accuracy I don't need anything down to 10mV on a battery . Question now for a 6S what would you set the alarm for bearing in mind it will sag at WOT , does 22.2 volts sound about right ? Want to strike a balance between lots left and alarming every time the throttle is opened . Perfect would be a current monitor but never see any for sale .
  3. 60 volts that's plenty then , funny Spektrum don't mention it anywhere and you have to get it from a forum ! Above poster it's the telemetry voltage input I was after not the rx supply , means I can hook up my 6S lipo balance lead to the rx and monitor the the voltage . If it alarms every time I open the throttle its time to land and charge . Ta all
  4. Just thought about using the voltage port on the above rx but can't find the max permissable voltage anywhere , I want to monitor a 6S hopefully without making a divider . Anyone know for sure ? Cheers
  5. Robert you have me interested , why was it not shown ? Nosey mode.
  6. Glad you got it sorted , they are so nice to fly better than my Bixler which I thought was the perfect lazy easy to fly plane .
  7. MattyB I think I did it after a long day fiddling with the Edge TX install and getting nowhere and wonder if I was using the correct protocol each time with the different receivers . Not good a idea when tired to experiment with things- Mea Culpa hence the fresh sd card and start again .
  8. Just to remind you I flew mine with the prop the wrong way round on standard setup and it was under powered but flyable and was brilliant when swopped correctly . Anchor it down and open throttle full the direction with the most blow backwards is the right one and make sure the motor turns anticlockwise and Bob's your mothers brother . Mine on standard setup with 2200 3S climbs very well and quickly to height so if its anything else something must be wrong .
  9. Another update if anyone interested . I put a fresh sd card in and started the Edge TX procedure again ( carefully) went without any problems this time done in 10 minutes . I didn't import any models this time and tried 3 different receivers spectrum/radiomaster/frsky and all worked perfectly on every channel in the correct order ie throttle on channel 1 . The exception was a Orange park flyer DSMX rx can't remember number which had the channels swapped about but I can live with that just interested why . First and second impressions of Edge TX rather good find it easier than Opentx to navigate and display , I think when they get all the bugs out I'll be keeping it , may even try flying with it on my expendable Bixler ( glued and taped up test plane) and see what happens . I wonder if Opentx will ever get the touch screen going as promised but I'm liking the Edge TX up to now .
  10. Update on above you tube video - it worked fine installing EdgeTX but it was very flaky with both DSMX , Frsky and RM 168/86 receivers rf wise . Would bind but not very easily and then when you repowered the rx it lost bind despite updating 4in1 module firmware to latest . After an afternoon chasing my own tail I decided to put it back to Open TX and it worked with with all the above receivers absolutely perfectly. I'm aware the models files are not compatible between the 2 systems but I was building these from new and just could not get reliable comms . Must have missed something somewhere along the line but now know how to do it might have another try at a later date . What I saw of Edge TX was quite impressive, I liked the look and feel of it but am concerned about RF functionality certainly wouldn't trust my models with it yet.
  11. Thanks Mike I'll look at that , also found another utube that seems relevant
  12. Seen that one Outrunner but he downloads a executable from Edge that isn't on the site anymore to complete it. Think I've tracked down the executable to github so I'll try it later once the wife let's me out to play !
  13. If I follow the Edge installation guide I can't get into bootloader mode at all . Had enough of it for one evening will try again tomorrow with a refreshed mind via Companion see 8f that works .
  14. I have seen several videos on how to upgrade the Radiomaster TX16S to Edge TX but the links to a program " Edge TX Flasher" have gone from Edge's website . If you follow the guide on the website and do it there way the TX16s will not go into boot loader mode only got it back by copying a working sd card . Only wanted the touch screen functionality but it's not to be . Anyone had a go at doing this ?
  15. I have an underused QX7 in my loft workshop which I thought might be useful when setting up models without bringing up my Radiomaster TX16S up the loft ladder . I remembered all my rx now run ACCST V2.1.0 and work fine with TX16S along with some Frsky S6Rs and X6Rs . Now I updated the XJT module in the QX7 with ACCST 2.1.0 off the Frsky website which appeared to go well , then I tried both a RM168c and a R68c and both would not bind to the QX7 at all . Doubting my memory I took an X6R flashed to ACCST V2.1 that's fine and that bound to the QX7 no problem . All my gear is LBT EU not FCC and I am binding in D16 mode . Am I missing something here ? Not the end of the world if it won't but just hate things that should work and don't.
  16. Cannot remember the topic before but do Life batteries need to discharged to storage or not ? Appreciate lipos do but not sure of Life batteries if so what voltage for storing for weeks on end ?
  17. Strange situation on Saturday at the field , we had a beginner with a DX8 gen 1 and AR410 receiver and firstly we bound the rx to the transmitter and it went as it should everything going the right way then we suggested a range check . As soon as range check was selected it stopped working and even leaving range test mode would not get it back unless it was rebound again . The AR410 was bound to a DX6 gen2 and would go into range check and back no problem . After going through starting a fresh model and binding again the same thing happened on the DX8 so to carry on we bound the DX6 gen2 to the model and used the DX8 as a wireless buddy which worked faultlessly . Anyone any ideas what is amiss never seen the bind fail on a range test before , next time I will take a spare RX see if it's down to the DX8 or not . Has anyone seen anything similar before ?
  18. I was hoping someone would have an answer by now because I want know as well .
  19. I wonder when they start reducing support for Windows 10 , how many PCs are going to be redundant i suspect 100s of millions , more electronic waste then ? Maybe we should get Greta Thunberg or whatever her name is to take on Microsoft over the waste , be assured of one thing Bill Gates will not get poorer because of it .
  20. I've had emails recently from Microsoft crowing about Windows 11 how brilliant , better , quicker blah ! blah ! I looked into it thinking my INTEL I7 16Gb PC would be a shue in but no ! because it doesn't have secure boot support . I have looked on all my less than 5 year old PCs and not one supports secure boot at all . So when they start winding down support for Win10 we won't be able to upgrade our existing kit ! Another spectacular own goal by Microsoft or cynical ploy to sell more PCs ( I know they are a software company but they have tie ins all over with manufacturers ) ill let others decide . Reason for posting I use PC for forums and emails etc so relevant to Model Flying . I do miss Windows XP and 7 but I'm a dinosaur .
  21. Martin lve not seen another Magic Funfly , found it at Weston Park 2 years ago right at back of one the traders tents complete with a receipt inside going back about 18 years . That puts it about 20 years since they were current ?
  22. Thanks for replies I think I need to reduce the prop a little and if not rethink the engine setup . Might keep the Saito in meantime until I get used to flying it . What's a nice petrol for that do you think ?
  23. Sorry just noticed Jon's question its Graupner Sonic G or G Sonic 14x7 in.
  24. Small update Can't find make other than its Funfly 90 with 60-90 2 stroke recommended . The Saito 82b is on 14x7 prop so in the range for the that . Gave it a little service and a new plug tightened prop etc . I'll give it go again tomorrow and see if it's any different. Quite thick wings but very light construction with a long long fuselage and quite enormous control surfaces , don't mind admitting I have the rates dialled down to about 50% ( wimp).
