  1. Yes Bas all flavours DSM2 DSMX Flysky Frsky and others . The transmit module is multiprotocol even does all those cheapo bundled toys with a transmitter . I've tested on several flavours of Frsky receivers and its all good and tested it on my latest Spectrum AR636 AR8010 receivers all work no problem . Just Google it loads of info about it tutorials etc thats how I found it and for £130 you can't go wrong . Downside its OpenTX operating system but once you get used to it its a doddle but a little daunting at first but it has wizards to build models on the TX or use supplied USB to connect to software on PC and do it from there and upload back to transmitter . There are probably more YouTube videos on it than Spectrum videos . As Del boy says " the worlds your lobster"
  2. I bought a DX8 G2 brand new from UK dealer and thought I would be a good boy and register it , long story short it was already registered and I had to wait while Spectrum contacted them to de-register so I could . They were evasive as to why it was already registered but I suspect it was originally faulty and factory refurbished but I paid for new ! Bit late now had it more than 2 years but leaves a bad taste in the mouth , last month bought a Radiomaster TX16S to replace an ageing Frsky QX7 and wonder after playing with it where Spectrum get there pricing structure from .
  3. Thanks good review, dont think the power is an issue . With my dodgy eyes in certain light conditions I dont get that far anyway .
  4. Thanks Matty B I will give that a try when I have some spare time . Whats everyone's impressions of the TX16S , I think they are absolutely spot on for the price and quality . Just a little concern voiced on you tube that the power may be down on a dedicated transmitter and only use it as a park flyer . The spec states 22dbm that's 150mw in English money and I assume a 2db aerial , can't get to field to test range at moment but spec wise that's not park flyer that's full normal range .
  5. Thanks guys that's the problem , The syntax is slightly different FRSKYX2 LBT(EU) but it went straight in .   Cheers     Edited By Brian Dorricott 1 on 17/12/2020 17:24:01
  6. Hi If you get no joy try an OS G5 glow plug instead , it replaces ignition and fires up like a glow . I can't see any difference between it and the CDI to be honest its how OS supply there 10cc petrol 2 stroke .
  7. Sorry previous post should have read ACCST not ACCCT and definitely not ACCESS .
  8. Hi guys back confused again . Last week I missed a step out of setting up a S6R and it gave me a headache until someone kindly pointed out what I missed . Thinking my QX7 was showing its age and looking a bit shabby and being unsupervised and having a PayPal account (wife out) I bought a TX16S and it arrived today . Now I was under the impression these transmitters could handle anything especially in the Frsky range so I hooked up my S6R and tried to bind . The S6R is the latest firmware ACCCT LBT and works just fine with QX7 but not with the TX16S , tried all combos but no result so I flashed the S6R to FCC and guess what straight in first time no problems . Did I miss something does the TX16S not like the LBT mode , i updated the internal firmware in the TX16S to the latest but it will only bind with FCC flashed receivers and got the same results with an S8R so not a receiver problem . Anyone any ideas on this one Google didn't help much just confused the issue . Worked a treat out of the box with Spectrum receivers by the way .
  9. Your math looks ok there Chris 2200 20c good for 44amps but you might want to increase the ESC rating , most people have a bit more headroom in case of heat or Chinese slant on specs maybe a 40 amp ESC ? 60c seems a bit much but downright lies are often told on spec sheets .
  10. No Bob they are not . I didn't have a problem updating the firmware it was my brain forgetting an important step . My beaf is the Frsky website I couldn't at first find the QX7 ACCST firmware , ( tiny more button) and then when I did my X6R updates no one mentioned you use the X8R firmware . When I worked with software it was usually backwardly compatible so that you didn't immediately have to go round all the remotes and upgrade because they didn't work . After spending a day chasing my own tail Dave Holland put me right and I suppose all firmware is up to date which it wouldn't have been otherwise. I still have problem of the original S6R being slow and hesitant but at least I can now remember how to update firmware and setup correctly and if that doesn't help it can take one last flight into the waste paper bin !
  11. No Danny just me forgetting the step to toggle the switch then waggling the sticks around , some sort of calibration thing you get a blue light hen it all goes out its working as it should . Only lost a days flying and a few brain cells sorting it out , stroll on Wednesday if the weather holds i'll give it a test .
  12. Glass of Merlot in hand a little break and thought I would give Dave Hollands suggestion a quick go - you star thats what i was doing wrong forgetting the toggle and rotate of the sticks . All appears fine now i'll check tomorrow if everything goes the right way etc. Thanks for the heads up Dave (superstar).
  13. Might have something there i'll give both those suggestions a whirl but as of now i'm sick to death of it so a nice glass of Merlot and fresh eyes tomorrow seems to be the way . I'll update if I get anywhere .
  14. Update and new problem I took my S6R and ran the LUA script and disabled the stabilisation and what do know , everything was smooth again . When i re-enabled the stabilisation the rudder stopped working and at this point i kicked the little beggar to the far reaches of the bench and got out my spare . You guessed it the spare running stab. does not operate the rudder either - whats going on ? Stabilisation is working but you cant control the rudder but knock it off and theres the rudder again. In short I did the following : updated Open Tx ( i know not strictly neccesary ) updated firmware in QX7 DJT modules Updated firmware in both receivers updated sdcard contents All working great with the above lack of rudder in stab. mode on both receivers and both my X6R receivers are ok once the firmware was updated . I can even see it on the display as i waggle the rudder about but nothing happens Anyone any ideas should I be doing it another way without the LUA script , been at it all afternoon and cant get a result . If no joy I might break out the AR636 sitting in spares box and use that instead . Is there anything not done that i've missed , setting these up in quick mode is usually dead simple . As an aside everything is warm and all connections are all good otherwise it would'nt work in none stab. mode . I would be pleased if some one said " what a plonker you have not ticked box X , it will work then " so over to you guys .
  15. There i was booked a slot down the field ,first flight for 5/6 weeks so took the Bixler ( expendable) pre flight checks showed a problem . S6R setup with stabilisation for launching by myself but the all controls showed hesitation firstly starting to move then glitches near neutral and finally to the opposite corner . First thoughts battery cold so warmed a new one up under armpit while exercising controls but always a bit slow and hesitant and a glitch near neutral. This occurred with or without stab in as I only use it for launch anyway . Brought to mind that I had a few flights before lockdown that weren't the usual locked in easy fun fly that I put down to dumb thumbs on the day . Did not fly and brought it home checked servos and esc all ok so so replaced S6R with a spare bound it and viola everything perfect , so where to go with old SR . Do I put firmware in it and run the LUA script again or consign it to burial in the landfill ? Is this related to the "glitch" problem mentioned lately ? Need to check what firmware and OpenTX versions because mine have not been changed for 3 years . Has this been seen before and what was the fix .
  16. Just another one for the Norton renewal scam , I must have deleted dozens across several accounts lately . Nearly had me until I remembered I was with Macfee !
  17. Also you might need the above and different length screws .
  18. Won't help with the tightness but I replaced my sparkplug with the OS G5 glow plug in my NGH17cc because my CDI units got burned in a fire . Starts and runs lovely on test bench but the NGH is still a bit noisy for our field and I don't have anything suitable to put it in at moment . Really can't see any difference between CDI or glow plug running and for £7.50 it's worth a try , one less battery and CDI unit to fit . Some people say it has problems in tuning but they are modding a glow to petrol but the NGH is already petrol all your doing is replacing the ignition !
  19. I have read the above and can only think that last year we were arguing the toss about the CAA registration and it got heated , wonder in a year's time what the topic will be ? Just remember in some countries free speech isn't allowed and seen as dissent . Do you ever wonder if the people drafting the law have a clear idea what they mean ? We can't work it out easily bet they couldn't either .
  20. Thanks Earlybird that's the one , looks dead easy now !
  21. Having a senior moment here , there was a thread the other day about some topic that showed a link to video on bending nosewheel legs , smart ones have already guessed ! Got one now can't find the video and need to know how it goes together as there is nothing in the kit . Specifically bending a spring into it I can't work out , bet it's dead easy but don't see it . Anyone know where to find it ?
  22. Also any high powered WiFi repeaters ( illegal) in the area maybe , guess what frequency they are on yep ! 2.4Ghz .
  23. Not sure but the vehicles may have been communicating on Bluetooth which is on 2.45Ghz ? Maybe just enough to desense the receiver as it flew over .
  24. As the NGH 17cc is already a petrol engine if you put in the G5 plug and ignite it voila it runs no differently from using the CDI pack . As my CDI packs all got burned in a fire but the engines were elsewhere £7 for a G5 plug or £50+ for a CDI was a no brainer ! This setup is no different to the smallest petrol OS 2 stroke but is only applicable to petrol engines with same size thread as a glow plug . No extra battery and CDI weight to worry about , the only real downside is the bark of the engine despite buying a "quiet" exhaust from JE . It is a little loud at WOT and the noise a gruff bark but that's nothing really to do with ignition swop but the exhaust design . Look up OS GGT10 petrol engine that's the same setup and OS don't usually get it wrong !
