  1. Crumbs! That’s no doubt the first and last time I’ll lead the league this year. I’m not loving the Saturday races, felt like such an anticlimax waking today and realising there’s no GP to look forward to.
  2. Congrats Tony Stones, Iqon, Chris McG and indeed all the top ten league finishers, as that’s an achievement I didn’t quite manage 🙈 Big thanks to John P for the diligent administration and reporting of results again. Your effort adds a bit of fun to all our F1 weekends 👍 Next year my team will begin with Norris in it, as the upwards trajectory through this year means he’s sure to win the championship. Before you go and place too much at the bookies based on that hot tip remember what I said about my finishing outside the top ten, maybe I’m not the best at making predictions 😂 See you all next year!
  3. Fun to have a close competition for the top spots in our league. Well done to those who scored well. 👍
  4. Get your predictions done tonight chaps, because quali will be on you tomorrow before the steaming coffee dissolves the overnight tears from your eyes… Looking like another Verstappen walkover to me, I wonder how soon he can clinch the championship?
  5. Oh my word! A new low has been plumbed… my team were actually looking good until that rain came along. Oh well. On the Monza - best race to visit in person, by far. If you have to pick just one, go there 👍
  6. Haha, ok! Good luck to your team… mine has not been working any miracles so far this season 🙈
  7. Thanks Duncan! Seems they are still in the market, although their current 50CC size appear to all be 90” rather than 88”. £800-£900 guide price for new seems steep to me, but I’m well out of date. I will pick a price quite a lot lower than that and get it listed once I can get photos taken. 👍
  8. I’m quite optimistic for this race… all three of my nominated drivers are starting in the top six on the grid, so if that doesn’t turn into a good result I may as well give up 😝☺️
  9. Hi! I have a completely unstarted ARTF airframe kit which has been gathering dust but now I need to accept I’m never going to get around to it and move it on. I’m not seeking to sell it via this thread, I realise there is a “for sale” forum for that purpose, but my issue actually is I have no clue what might be a fair price? Can anyone offer me advice please? The model is a Pilot RC 88” Extra 330, some pictures attached which I saved from the original listing. I have had it 6 or 7 years and cannot say it is unopened as I did open the box to check contents, but it has never been unpacked or anything taken from the plastic bags and is complete with landing gear and instructions. Googling around I don’t find anyone selling PilotRC any more, did they go bust? They used to be everywhere! The few listings I did find for new kits were EU based sellers charging €850 which seems high. I don’t remember how much I paid, but it wouldn’t have been that much or I wouldn’t have bought it. I do remember I bought it because I thought it was a great colour scheme! 😃 So… anyone know what secondhand but still basically new kits of this size change hands for? Thank you very much for any tips.
  10. 😩😫😱🥺😭 …and that’s all I have to say about that 😜
  11. Thanks guys, I will give it a try and report back 👍
  12. Hi @EvilC57did you find a good answer to your original question? I have just dusted off my cellog 8S, which is a wonderful little unit for the modest price - shame they’re not sold anymore. What I haven’t succeeded in doing is finding software which will run on my windows10 laptop which will read and display the log files. Maybe you have a good solution? Edit: did you try the cellog.zip program Alan linked to above?
  13. Crikey, that’s a surprise! I got lucky with my predictions, although to be fair I hadn’t picked Zhou for fastest lap - must be something wrong with me because it was obvious, no? 😜 I wonder what odds the bookmakers were offering on that one. And what of the season prospects now? I do hope it’s not going to turn into a Verstappen bore-fest with the championship wrapped up soon after the summer break. Even with a strong start, can Aston Martin match Red Bull’s development rate and mount a challenge? Doesn’t seem likely to me, but it’s only race 1 so perhaps the competitive order will soon look a little different as often happens at the beginning of a season.
  14. That’s the last time I’ll be as high as 4th! 😆
  15. Well it all depends on the car really (as ever in F1!) My working assumption is that Mercedes will have managed to understand and reverse the misstep they took with last year’s car and that if their redesign for this year corrects the characteristic which limited them so much in 2022, the potential of their “zero sidepod” concept might start to really be seen. It should, after all, be something of an advantage to not have big sidepods hanging off the car. Two alpha drivers can be an issue if the team has a dominant car, but I suppose even if they take a good step forward they might only be in contention for wins rather than out in front of the pack. I’m looking forward to seeing the Russell Hamilton fight again this year as it seemed the young gun had the measure of the champ at times last year, but Lewis is a wily fox at this stage of his career and surely knows that his teammate is there to learn from him, so in an uncompetitive car last year, what point was there to pull all the tricks out of Lewis’s deep magic hat? I’m betting that only if the Merc is competitive will we see Lewis at the top of his game, and when he digs deep I do certainly expect he can beat young George in the same car. Well I put a speculative bet on Mercedes for constructors champs this year at 2.25:1 odds, so I’m certainly biased by wishful thinking My other bet on F1 is a double accumulator for De Vries to beat his teammate Tsunoda and Gasly to beat Ocon in WDC and if that comes off it pays 3.68:1. I only ever bet small stakes on F1, but have won consistently over the past few years, and it makes watching the season a bit more fun! Good luck with your operation! Those docs are pretty good at what they do these days, so I’m sure they will fix you up 👍
  16. Why when you pick your team does it always leave you without sufficient funds to get that last team or driver? I ended up having to compromise by omitting Hamilton from my team for the first time in years. Thanks to me, he’s bound to win the championship this year! 🤣
  17. Ay carumba! Five places lost in one race. I’m performing as well as Ferrari’s race strategy dept! ?
  18. ?? Hello everyone, just caught up on the thread since I was last here. I’ve created my team and joined the league for this year. Tough isn’t it, choosing a team not knowing how the pecking order will be? Feels like there’s a lot more potential for a shake up of the order with this big change in regs. As the car and driver prices seem mostly based on how they performed last year, there must be a lot of bargains to be had in that list… if only I had a crystal ball. George Russell looks like good value though, I bet he’s gonna be in many people’s team. Mind you I did put a little bet on Verstappen to win WDC last year after testing, which paid out at 4.25:1. But that’s probably all my luck used up. well, now we have a second test to give us some clues followed by the first race in a fortnight. Looking forward to it. ?
  19. Congrats John Stones for winning the league with a score bigger than Toto Wolff’s blood pressure numbers and worthy mentions also to Chris McG and Tony Clark for second and third. I was hopeful I might snatch a podium place, but like Lewis defending from Max on worn tyres on that final lap, it was ultimately just out of my reach. Kudos to John P for running the league in such an accommodating fashion - not only providing such a competent and thorough score update service, but even going the extra mile to finish way down the table in deference to others. You’re a gent John. How will history judge that season finale? It will be spoken of in the same breath as São Paulo 2008 but will be more hotly debated for sure, as whatever your bias you can find a way to argue how it might’ve turned out differently. The “what ifs” will be endless. I think when the noise dies down it will be seen to have been good for the sport overall, but I could be wrong! Whatever else comes of it, I hope the FIA team learn some lessons and improve. FOM TV broadcasting the chatter between Masi and the teams has shone a light on some weaknesses this year, and haven’t we missed Charlie Whiting? Whether everything was done fully correctly or not in the Whiting years, at least he managed to maintain an image of authority and decisiveness. Thanks all for playing this game, I’ll be back on it next year ✌️
  20. Exciting race, but a bit too much jeopardy for me. Love how restrained you all are, but I’ll throw out a few controversial comments…. seems to me Max is trying repeatedly to pay back copse corner at Silverstone by taking out Lewis. Only trouble is he’s not succeeded as Lewis is wise to it. The “oops i overcooked the corner entry” move of sliding wide whenever Hamilton is outside of the corner is getting very noticeable and I doubt a puny 5 sec wristslap from the stewards will stop Max repeating this in the future. I do hope they stamp out the precedent of Max “conceding the position” then immediately diving into the next corner from zero gap to retake it. Lewis wasn’t allowed to keep his Spa 2008 win because a huge 25 second post race penalty was applied when he was judged to not have relinquished position to Kimi sufficiently, so the precedent should be clear. Max and Red Bull clearly think they can surrender position “strategically” so that it’s easily regained directly afterwards. Not ok, and needs to be stopped or things become farcical. Hope Michael Masi learns a few things from this race. There was plenty which could have been managed better. Sorry to bring controversy corner to this fine thread ✌️
  21. I dropped McLaren and replaced them with Ferrari before this race, which was certainly a good move. The ten point penalty for making a change in excess of the free changes took a bite out of that benefit, but let’s hope the red cars continue to do well until the end of the season. Does Lewis have any answer for Verstappen’s pace now? It seems like only unreliability or a crash will hand the advantage back to Hamilton at this stage, as Max seems to have one hand on the trophy. Merc can’t have any magic bullets left to pull out of their bag of tricks at this late stage, surely?
  22. Congrats to the guys in P1 and P2 in the league! You have an impressive margin to third place, so you just need to sort it out between yourselves as to who wins and who’s the support act. As for P3-P6 - game on!! ?
  23. Well done all. Not a thrilling race, but hopefully Monza is better.
  24. That’s a nice surprise - a good result for a change! Ps. I do hope the new 2022 cars have more chance of overtaking at Monaco - it’s all a bit pointless watching them chase each other around with no chance to overtake.
