  1. Speak to Stan at Phoenix Model Products. He still does the Mini Metro. Maybe he might do you a wing kit and plan?
  2. The suit wasn't supposed to be like that....but he had such dreadful wind! Ah Well! Better in than out!
  3. Chrissz. I'm pig-sick jealous of your Turbo. My mate and I had them in the late '90s and had many hours of fun with them flying from pristine RAF runways. I have an unstarted Precedent FunFly which should also be a nostalgic build...when I get round to it. I hope you get a similar amount of fun. And the Sky sport 6 keeping it all nice and simple (we were on Challengers at the time).
  4. Thank you for the download Peter - now I see how extensive it is it kind of makes sense why that wasn't in the magazine (although in 1994 I did managed with the plan only). It looks excellent and too much to put in the mag - maybe a web address might be useful next time?
  5. I dont want to get into a p'ing contest - and should have guessed I'd get told off for having a view - I'm not deriding foam models - the point being that do they really need such extensive reviews. I have one of those type of helos - they are wonderful. But do they need 4 pages?
  6. I stopped buying RCME years ago as I found most of it uninteresting, but bought this one as I loved my Chilli Breeze years ago and was tempted again. A great plan and interesting article (I still have the June '94 one). But a QR code? So much 'tech' seems to get used mainly 'cos it's there; I would have found a web address more useful or perhaps both? Maybe it was felt that extending the article was too much for those that weren't interested, as it was already quite lengthy? Ace questioned the lack of space....but there were four pages describing a toy helicopter that might have been better employed! And another foamie review. To be honest, the rather extensive coverage of what I feel are foam toys remains one of the reasons why I rarely buy a copy. But those CBs do look nice!
  7. “Your call is important to us.”...is just another way of saying that we haven't got enough staff as we are cutting costs..so it's not that important to us!
  8. When I was in the RAF, we used to say there were three great lies...."Transport is on the way", "The cheque is in the post"....and one that can't be written here. I think the "Your privacy is important to us" is the fourth great lie of modern life. I know it is a requirement, but years ago it used to be a discrete little banner, now most websites have a huge page blocking banner (at least this one didn't block the page) that seems to give you just enough time to start reading the website before it obscures it. Infuriates me.
  9. Not good news for any surviving UK model businesses though....
  10. Hi I've just seen this but I have a Mini Capiche that I was thinking of selling. Secondhand to me and unflown by me, but in quite reasonable condition. West 36 and servos.
  11. Perhaps this needs a new topic starting - I think us oldies could fill that pretty quick. I respect the mods who have a difficult job - people seem to seek offence these days.
  12. There is one on eBay at the moment for £30, which seems a bit expensive. Also one on Amazon.com at 22 USD but didn't see if shipping was practical.
  13. I found my Vandal picture - looks the same to me (sorry but can't scan it in)
  14. I though Masterline Vandal too. I have a photo of one somewhere....
  15. We discussed that the police might stop a driver under suspicion of being drunk where he was actually swerving to avoid pot-holes - my son suggested that the drunken driver would be the only one who wasn't swerving to avoid the pot-holes....!
  16. "We had a WAAF on St Mawgan"..... I think another joke there somewhere!! (My wife was WRAF so I'll shut up!!)
  17. I believe the Facebook page is still there, although I don't have an account to see the posts, but the pic of the Kadet, kloudrider and kavalier are mine! I did have some dealings with Rich Booth but nothing for a few years now. I know he kitted up some kloudrider and was making canopies for a while. He was also printing plans that may be on eBay still?
  18. I buy from Stan whenever possible. Excellent prices and excellent service, almost always next day delivery. I have several of Stan's MK1 gliders that have performed excellently and survived for years (well, decades).
  19. I had two of these with Irvine 36s. Lovely to fly but I lost both (!) due to elevator flutter which immediately broke the linkage. I think I had used nylon clevises on the first and, stupidly, on the second. The first was spread across a nice tarmac RAF runway, the second repairable. Might be worth making sure your linkage is nice and robust. So tempting to make another, but my Irvine 36 is a bit tired now, shame they aren't around still.
  20. Try Stan at Phoenix Model Products
  21. I have the larger Balsa Cabin Rhapsody, similar design. Years ago I swapped out the brush less motor for a Turnigy in runner which has the wires exiting at the rear and can be mounted on the front bulkhead. So no problem with the wires rubbing the rotating motor. Has worked well and needed almost no modification. Cheap too!
  22. Another mention for the KK Outlaw (often referred to as the MK2). 1975. OS 10 Max. KK box art colour scheme. Initially flown with a Waltron 4 channel set with only two servos on rudder and throttle, which scared the hell out of the guy that test flew it for me in a field behind Butlins in Minehead one winter Sunday. I scrounged some money for a 3rd servo and modified it to add elevator and had several flights, but can't recall how it eventually died, although do remember snapping the wings on Minehead beach! Full of nostalgia I got hold of a kit around 15 years ago, and still enjoy flying it in its original KK colour scheme. Around that time I built a Zeitgeist glider from an RM plan and also flew a secondhand Veron Springbok which cost me a fiver....In 1998 I got the plans and drawings from Phil Smith and built a new Springbok and still enjoy flying it.
