Never been a keen follower of this but having seen film of these 'boats' on TV I am amazed , they spend more time flying than sailing and reach such high speeds. Best of luck to all who sail /fly in them.

rubber / synthetic fabric runway
Mowerman replied to Harry Curzon 1's topic in All Things Model Flying
The Reading club have a super flat smooth runway in most winters and some summers, for floatplanes. I remember most regular flyers had floats which could be fitted to their models when required. -

If you fly from outside the circle using R/C that makes it more like RTP .

I remember, back in the pre-metric days, being told that us Brits were better at mental arithmetic due to being taught to use the old imperial system.

The majority of active modelers are of an age that was from the days of greatest advances in aviation but now most new aircraft seem to be copies of each other. It takes an enthusiast to recognise one passenger jet from another (now that Concorde is gone). Computer games ,not for me, but for the younger people are what fires the imagination now

There is a Gannet on display at the museum of Berkshire aviation at Woodley near Reading.

I, met Phill a couple of times at Fly-ins organised through the other forum, a nice guy but sadly not able to join in fully due to long standing illness. Sad to hear.

I am in the process of clearing out all sorts of old (and forgotten) books and have found a set (Volumes 1 to10) of books titled Wings. I con not remember where or when I got them so any information would be helpful. They have the look of having been published as a series of magazines an are in hard back holders. There is no Publication data in the front of any of them, looking through the would seem to originate from the late 1970s,judging from the details in the text. Any body know any thing about them and any ideas of value?

How much have you spent on modeling in 2020?
Mowerman replied to Paul Marsh's topic in All Things Model Flying
Due to health issues (mine and wife's) only BMFA renewal. -
Cuban 8 the price charged for oil by servicing firms is very over inflated .In the past I have been charged £40 for oil that was sold by motor accessory shops for £14 a gallon tin,. The garage or dealer gets the oil in bulk at a far lower price but relies on the customer being ignorant of this fact. One way over this is to buy your oil from the shop and instruct the garage to use the oil you supply. .This also applies to screen wash.

After getting caught a couple of times when launching my Wildwing (speed 400 Gunther prop) I fitted a hook and used a catapult l;aunch, just let the model get clear of the bungee line with a bit of height before starting the motor..

I am struggling to read my June issue due to cataracts (operation delayed by current priorities) and note that both free plans use 'Jedelski wings. I can remember that this wing type does not have a bottom skin but leaves the ribs exposed, I wonder if many of our younger readers are aware of this and there is no explanation on either plan.

Hi Tony I think this lockdown is having a similar effect on many of us, so much time that we just want to put everything off till later and no rush to do anything. -
