  1. I had a biology teacher who was universally feared, you could tell which classroom he was in by the total silence apart from his voice. Each lesson started with a 10 minute test on the material learned in the last lesson, anything less than 90% earned you a detention. If you dropped a pencil you left it on the floor until the end of the lesson. The chemistry teacher was far kinder, he just gave you a thrashing with a doubled up length of bunsen hose if you misbehaved 😊 I got an A in both subjects at O level unsurprisingly. 2. Posted by Bruce Collinson on 22/12/2020 20:00:50: Cricket news. The Indian Test team has been exempted from Corvid tests. Apparently they’re incapable of catching anything off a bat. BTC Surely a Corvid test only determines whether you caught it from a member of the Crow family?
  3. Not sure it would be advisable to disable the ailerons, doesn't look to be enough dihedral for the rudder to be effective on its own, compare it to the stage 2R which is rudder/elevator only.
  4. Received the latest BMFA news yesterday together with the E-flite catalogue. After browsing through it for a while I have two observations to make. Firstly, The range of Spektrum transmitters in the catalogue comprises, iX series, the new NX series and a reduced range of DX transmitters, only the DXS, DX6e and DX8e are there. Are Spektrum trimming back the DX range with the introduction of the NX series? Secondly, the proof reading must have been done on a Friday afternoon just before leaving for home, or even done at home with the benefit of half a bottle of a good red wine. For example, the UMX Ultrix (wingspan 13.5 inches, mass 65g) apparently flies with a 6s 5000mAh battery. Similarly, the Night Radian FT appears to have 2 2200Kv motors running on a 6s battery, it must go like a rocket. There were others and probably some less easy to spot, take the specs with a pinch of salt.   Edited By Shaun Walsh on 18/12/2020 07:25:06

I can see others if they have a camera and hear what's being said ? What about me talking, does it work without a camera ?   If you have a basic desktop you will need: Webcam Microphone Speakers Most webcam have a built in microphone so you could use webcam with headphones. What operating system do you use? Edited By Shaun Walsh on 17/12/2020 14:43:35
  6. Reminds me of when Dave Allen said that he was being interviewed live on US TV. When asked how he liked to relax he said that he liked to have a glass of whisky and a fag in his mouth. I may have paraphrased it a bit but the essence of the story is there.

  8. Quick update on my progress with the Polaris. Have cycled all the servos and so far they seem OK (famous last words). Have fitted the SK3 3536-1400 motor and after trying a number of props have settled on a Master Airscrew 3 blade 8x6 pulling 34A , 390 Watts on a 3S battery @12320 rpm , 1.35Kg thrust. Using the supplied 40A ESC. Have been fiddling with the linkages, all the clevises will be replaced for more robust ones. The rudder and elevator will use the supplied metal pushrods. I have found that if I replace the aileron pushrods with 1.5mm carbon fibre pushrods, they move much more freely but are a bit bendy so the pushrod ends at the servo will be 1.5mm CF changing to 2.5/1.5mm CF tube outside the fuselage terminated with 1.5mm threaded rod at the control horn, This should be flexible where needed and stiff where it isn't! Strobon light mounted under the servo hatch.
  9. Even better, there are 2 versions of the SK3 3542-1250 one for front mounting and one for rear mounting. Edited By Shaun Walsh on 07/12/2020 14:24:38

Posted by SIMON CRAGG on 07/12/2020 14:03:13: Posted by Shaun Walsh on 07/12/2020 13:44:33: Wouldn't advise 4S, see the video below where someone has flown a Voltigeur on 4s and managed to fry 2 ESCs. The stock motor displaced a magnet and stiffened up causing excess current draw. Voliteur 4s battery problem I saw this, hence changing the ESC for an 80 a job!. If you can barely turn the motor by hand as in the video I dare say it would fry even an 80A ESC The SK3 3542-1250 looks a good bet, 3S battery, 11x7 prop, 47.6A, 2300g thrust.

The stock motor displaced a magnet and stiffened up causing excess current draw. Voliteur 4s battery problem I believe the OP has already uprated to an 80A ESC. The problem wasn't the ESC, it was the motor failing when run on 4s and as a result both ESCs fried.
  12. If it will fit, this might work. 4-Max 3541-920 I have the 1070KV version which is rated to a lower max current draw pulling 37A on a 3S in a 1500g Riot. It will climb vertically and roll whilst doing it but probably needs a bit more power for 3D stuff. The 920 version is rated to 45A WEP

  14. Hi Simon, Can you check the motor can diameter and the distance from the back of the motor mount where it is attached to the firewall and the front of the motor, not including the shaft.? If you post the sizes it should be easy to find a suitable upgrade. Edited By Shaun Walsh on 07/12/2020 13:29:22

  16. Well, after I contacted Banggood and pointed out that consumer law requires the item sold to be "as advertised" they came back to me with a perfectly reasonable offer of a partial refund. Pleasantly surprised, it was a bit of a drawn out process but providing customer service in a language which is not your first language must be a challenge.
  17. Posted by Gary Murphy 1 on 04/12/2020 16:12:09: Not exactly on topic BUT as anyone seen them "seriousreaders" adverts on TV? Have you seen the price! Are they that special,I bought a normal angle poise lamp and put a daylight bulb in it and its brill, way cheaper. When I first saw them advertised I thought that at that price it has to be an Apple product. But you are right it's just a glorified anglepoise with a high output led daylight bulb, surprised JML (Junk Made Lovingly) haven't started selling them
  18. Posted by Shaun Walsh on 02/12/2020 09:01:25: Currently playing customer service ping-pong with Banggood, they don't seem to be able to understand the problem with the motor. I will persevere but it may be necessary to raise the problem with Paypal and try to get a partial refund. Banggood have at last confirmed that the motor supplied is 1000KV, not 1300KV, the item supplied is therefore "not as described". I shall therefore purchase a motor suitable for use with a 3S battery and try to claim back the cost from Paypal. Has anyone tried getting a partial refund from Paypal for goods which were not as described? Edited By Shaun Walsh on 04/12/2020 09:52:34
