  1. To answer the post from Matty B, page 17 of my manual relates to pb lead-acid battery use. The unit is T100 if the 'T' makes a difference. There is a sticker on the box relating to Schumacher racing with a UK phone number so I contacted them. I was told that the unit will only charge up to a storage level so it has to be below that level already. Just to go back to my original post if using some form of bulb to drain the Lipo is there a maximum wattage advised.
  2. This advice is for storage. I do have a Skyrc100 balance charger which has a 'storage' setting but that is only to charge up to storage it does not discharge from full. I also have a 'batguard' but that takes hours to discharge a full battery.
  3. I am considering making a DIY Lipo discharger for 3S batteries using a 12 volt auto bulb. Presumably the greater the wattage the sooner it will discharge the unit but is there a maximum to avoid damaging it?
  4. Thanks for the clarification. The esc is 40 amp and the cables to the motor are the same size as the input from the battery.
  5. Does the same thing apply to the cables from the esc to the motor. To aid balance I had to move the esc. Originally the battery was on top of the esc but as the fuselage is thin it was a push fit and removing the battery was difficult. I have moved the esc to be behind the battery and this way the esc is not covered and the battery comes out ok. I have used standard length 20 cm leads but could trim them a little if necessary. The cable from battery to esc is short and the standard size.
  6. I am of a similar age to Hillclimber and am relying on club members to buddy me (I bought 2 Futaba T6K transmitters and a lead). I have Realflight 9.5 with the Spectrum interlink running through my laptop. Good system but with the laptop the model 'disappears' if you go too far due I am told to the graphics card on the laptop and there is no external unit available to improve things. I am also using a large flat screen TV. This is all helping but it is taking some time to be able to control the aircraft on the field.
  7. I have a similar type of issue. I purchased a Hitachi43HK6100U smart tv. This has come with several pre set links to things like You tube, netflix etc. There is also a button marker WWW and using that I have made access to the internet and downloaded a link to UK TV. However although can access the channel I cannot download any of the programmes. The help line says that is because the browser in the tv does not support that. Is there anything I can do about that.
  8. Yes and no ! I have bought a kit Dynaflight Piece O Cake 72 inch wingspan. Started just recently after agonising over whether to split the wing in 2 pieces for ease of transport. Now decided to go with the single wing. Sorry for the delay in responding I missed it first time round.
  9. Sorry if this is in the wrong place but I am still learning where things are now !! I have just bought the Real flight 95. simulator with the Interlink tx. It all appears to be set up OK and I can fly a trainer. My laptop is only just over 12 months old and I am using a HD flat screen tv as the monitor but I am disappointed over the quality of the image of the aircraft. Before I get to the edge of the airfield I am using the image becomes furry and then goes completely so I am blind turning to get it back into view. Any suggestions as to the problem please.
  10. Forgive me if this has already been covered here but is it OK to store Lipo batteries in a metal shed outside bearing in mind likely winter temperatures. I have a fireproof briefcase/box made by Brinks Home Security and will not lock the lid so hopefully if it does go up gas can escape.
  11. I have just received a February 2021 magazine !!
  12. To be fair to Hermes I have sold quite a few things on Ebay and never had a problem with them. I did have one package damaged, a wine press made out of stainless steel so the mind boggles at the force needed to dent it. I was warned it would take up to 28 days to decide but sent photos and I received a full refund of price obtained and shipping costs. Maybe I have been lucky but share the frustration over RM tracking where the parcel does not appear to move for several days and then turns up on the doorstep !!
  13. We use our answering machine if we do not recognise the number dialling us we let it kick in. Most calls disappear before the answering message ends.
  14. I had an issue last week when I was looking for tool boxes in that I was directed straight to the click to confirm purchase although I had not chosen buy it now or add to basket. I logged off but then received a notification on my phone that I had an item in my basket. This did not appear when I opened the basket so I emailed the supplier who confirmed there was no purchase to be made. No further notifications since that so looks OK.
  15. HI Malcolm Many thanks for the reply it is very helpful. There is indeed a centre section here. Bearing in mind the wingspan of 72 inches can you suggest a size of piano wire that would be appropriate and if possible the internal diameter of the tube needed.
  16. I came across this old posting about wing joiners. I am some time away from needing a solution to my model (piece O cake) which has a 72 inch wingspan. Naturally I would like to be able to have 2 wing halves for ease of transport. The problem would seem to be that the centre section also has a dihedral as well as the 2 wing tips. How can I bend the joining tube to make that. I am assuming it is not too difficult to bevel the ends of the retaining tube at the root rib but the joining tube itself will have to have a bend in it ? I did think that possibly I could make a ply box in each wing end and have a aluminium 'tongue' with the bend incorporated. Presumably it would need at least 1 bolt or screw through both to locate and restrain the wings. Any advice would be much appreciated.
  17. I have joined Buzzard Flying Club near Leighton Buzzard and am learning with a buddy system. Currently using a Multiplex Easystar or Fun Cub. I am looking for a winter project and prefer to build balsa, hence my query.
  18. I am in a similar position and have been looking at the Retromodeler site Piece O Cake. Has anyone built this with an electric conversion. I am thinking about going for one for a winter project.
  19. I am looking for a winter project. Making some progress learning to fly but slowly ! Currently using an Easystar foamy but want to build a balsa glider. I am thinking of a thermal glider of say 6 feet wingspan and as I fly from a field I need an electric motor. Any recommendations ? I do have some building experience but I am looking at a kit and not plan build. Thanks
