  1. I have a Hobbyking EU Warehouse order in "Processing" since 1 Feb. All items in stock when I ordered. They won't let me cancel - so far, and they wont tell me what item, if any, is causing the delay. I can accept that they may have chaos in the EU warehouse, which is what they tell me, but this is a company that doesn't have a cancel button on their order progress page, so once ordered you are pretty much committed and will randomly get a quick delivery or a long wait. Of course, I used them because they were cheap but this is my first order since the UK warehouse closed. I guess they won't be so keen to short ship from EU. I have recently ordered, mostly on-line, from five UK hobby shops and withot exception the service from all of them was great with phone calls to discuss items not in stock and delivery within 48 hours and prices not far off HK (apart from LiPos!!!!). I guess you have to decide what suppliers you want to support to be providing the fun stuff and keeping the hobby going in the UK. PS No I don't work for any UK hobby business and I aint a brexiteer.
  2. Please can someone send me a link to the RCME Digital Magazine so that I can read it! I just spent 20 minutes unsuccessfully trying to find a link anywhere on the internet to my digital subscription to RCME, which I have not read for about four months, largely because it is so well hidden. None of the News articles on the forum saying that stuff has been rearranged has any kind of HTML link to the magazine. Even when I click "Magazine" on the RCME facebook site (and I'm not on facebook so I don't often look) I get taken to a totally irrelavent list of magazines.
  3. About to start covering a Cambria Elan 100 inch glider and am considering using polyester tissue as a change from see through film. The airframe is strong enough for me uncovered and I am not sure whether to use the Standard or Heavyweight version of polyester tissue that seems to be available - I'm assuming light may be a bit fragile as it seeme to be used for very small models. Main use of glider will be slope or bungee (and probably a future ePower Pod) with reasonably smooth landing areas. Would this material be suitable? Many thanks for any advice.
  4. Lockdown has finally given me time to clear out my shed and do the building I had planned for the winter 2 years ago. First balsa building for more than 20 years. I've also subscribed to this Forum and to RCM&E Digital for tips, backissues etc. First; for anyone working in health services, many many thanks, hope you all get rewarded. And for anyone in RC model business still working please be careful and take time to stay safe sending out orders (like mine)! I now have "mass produced" fuselages on jig for kits purchased at a show last year, West Wings Pinto. Cambria Elan 100, Cliffwhacker, Astro Hog (from plan, not started yet). Pinto wings in progress - it's a lovely simple kit with great wood. I'll be here on the Forum for advice a bit ! Next up will be something to spray the models with, i'm getting to grips with airbrush vs mini spray gun vs touch up gun vs spray gun, needle sizes and compressor noise, HP and CFM. So much to understand just to do some painting! Cheers, Bob
  5. Thanks for your info on this and sorry about late reply. I gathered that it was not too powerful and a bit heavy and my model should have correspondingly large wing, short nose and long tail ! I had watched the video before but not really listened to what he was saying, and yes he says it is "quiet", might go for the glow version now I have discovered the price difference though !! Thanks again. PS Maybe someone associated with engines could stitch together lots of MP3 of different model engine/airframe noises, tickover, slow pass, full power - a bit like the old vinyl LPs of steam engine noises our Grandads used to buy, it must have been done somewhere.
  6. I see there are a few postings on here about gas engine noise, and an RCME article back in 2011. I am interested in a Saito 19cc FG19-R3 engine, possibly with a ring exhaust (I like the sound, which seems to be the only point of IC Vs electric). It would be great to have some advice about whether it would be feasible to get below the BMFA 82dbA limit with this engine. Happy to use big prop and limit RPM if it helps. Its a lot of cash to part with if this is going to be a challenge. Many thanks for any info, regards Bob
