  1. With winter well and truly here and lots of rainy weather, i decided it was time to get back on the Concorde build. got round to sheeting the top of the wings and gluing the UC bearers. Pretty happy with the result, has some bumps but hopefully will sand out. had a small issue where the gap for WB1 closed up but hopefully will be an easy fix. Also ordered the edf, servos and wiring pack from 4 max, went for the FMS fans. 1080g of thrust each should mean over 2:1 thrust to weight ratio which should help with takeoff! Been dreading doing the fuselage and keeping the formers straight but might try to setup a jig to help with it. A few pics and video of progress.
  2. Finally got round to doing the second wing structure. All went together smoothly so far. Also managed to get some retracts for my bday present. the wheels are scary small but should be ok for summer freshly mown grass. Balsa sheeting next
  3. Thanks glad it wasn’t just me. I just took a few mm off the fwd jig tabs of R1/R2/R6. decided not to use any CA and just brushed on the aliphatic. First wing structure is done
  4. thanks Craig, on the plan it reads to have 9mm at LE , 2mm at mid and 5mm at TE. but at the 9mm point it seems to have a 4mm gap to the ribs. Ribs look ok at mid and TE
  5. So I’ve finally had my glues arrive going to use thin ca to rack in place and bought some aliphatic as I’ve heard some good things started pining things in place. before I glue anything did anyone have this gap between LE1 and R2/R6. I’ve chocked up the le 9mm as the plan states but look like it’s got a 4mm gap. Did anyone have to chock it 14mm or sand down the tabs to fit?
  6. thanks martin. Yes probably a silly idea but this model makes me so happy even just sitting on my boat in pieces.
  7. thanks Craig I’ll have to give that a try with the Ali angle. Keeping the fus straight will be a challenge.
  8. Forgot to mention, I might try and do a video log. If your interested here is the first video I’ve done. Thought it might be fun.
  9. Hi All, I manged to convince my better half to get me another plane for Christmas and she choose the TN concorde from the wishlist. As the title suggests this is only my second build so will probably be a challenge but i love the plane so hopefully that will motivate me to finish it. I need to order some glues and bits before getting fully stuck in. i'll try and send some updates as it goes. im sure i'll have plenty of questions.
  10. Kit would be best, with laser cut wood pack. I do see what you are saying about the awkward shapes but hurricane isn’t quite doing it for me 🙂
  11. the DB spitfire looks very nice. Bit bigger than I was looking for at 2m but I guess bigger flys better. Out of stock but will keep an eye on it. yes the Concorde would be great. I agree the retracts are pricey but it will be a slow build so could split the cost over some months. any ideas what is more challenging to build, tn Concorde or DB spitfire?
  12. Thanks wookman. Had a quick look and gave Stan a call. The kits looks great, nice detail in the instructions. We’ve got some of those models flying at our field but not quite tickling my fancy.
  13. Hi all, looking for some input on my next build. Would like to have a British iconic plane (IC)/jet (edf). Max span 1.6m. would be my second build. Flown balsa, foam high/low wing and jets but no warbirds. Would like to avoid expert level models for flying/building. I fly off 100m short grass. was thinking about spitfire/tempest/sea fury/ Vulcan/ concord. My short list would be the TN spitfire 1.6m or TN concord. but open to other brands of kits. Any thoughts? Thanks!
  14. Thanks for the replies everyone. I checked and my frame rate is set to 22ms. the initial issue I was having with the as3x was that the rudder was correcting In the wrong direction. I then turn up all the gains to help see the directions and then noticed the elevator was behaving strangely with stick input. sound like the wot 4 has analogue servo and the only plane I have with analog. So seems like I just turn up the gains too much. im still not sure why the as3x rudder direction was wrong even after double checking setup orientation and doing a “relearn servo settings”. Maybe the analog servos again.
  15. Hi all, anyone know if it’s possible to use an as3x gyro with standard wot4 servos? ive recently installed an as3x receiver setup the plane and all worked well. The. Setup up the as3x and the servo seems to be very noisy and even burning out!
