  1. FXRES is a 2m soaring class with highly capable models constructed mainly from wood, in a contest providing an excellent challenge for pilots of all abilities. Competitions are a variant of the FAI F3L provisional class, with a simple format of a 4 hour window where competitors can fly up to 10 timed flights (6 min max), best 6 flights count. This allows F3L and F5RES to compete alongside each other but have different score sheets. A competitor can fly both classes if they wish. BMFA membership is a must. F5RES height limiters set to 100m/30seconds, bungees are provided More details here: https://www.fxres.co.uk/ FXRES pre-entries for Radioglide here: https://www.barcs.co.uk/radioglide/
  2. Friendly F3RES and F5RES competition at Shrewsbury. BMFA members, relaxed rules for maximum fun and help get people into this brilliant and inexpensive soaring class. We have a large field just a couple of miles from Shrewsbury by-pass which is dual carriageway all the way from M54/motorway network. Total of best 6 flight times out of 10 timed attempts, 6 minute max, fly off if necessary, class compliant 15/100m bungees provided. Field open 09.00, pilot briefing 10.45, working time 11.00am to 15.00pm- will extend if necessary. Entry fee for single class or both classes together is £15.00 (£10.00 to landlord £5.00 for prizes). Please bring a stopwatch/timer. More details on Facebook site F3-RES and F5-RES - UK , Website- https://www.fxres.co.uk/ or please message me.

  5. I'd recommend this- Perfect light wind soarer, found it a v enjoyable build, but recommend you follow the motor battery setup. I've bought a few things from Hollien and have had no problem with delivery to UK **LINK**
  6. Put them on the wattmeter for a final check under load, but I think the 2900s need to be returned as faulty. At best they appear to have aged and lost a lot of performance on the shelf, at worst (and more likely given what you are seeing) one or more cells is collapsing under load. Thanks Matty, I agree this seems most likely is down to the battery packs- I'm sending them back to the supplier.
  7. Thanks for everyone input this thread. The 2900ma Lipos are 35C (77amp), 65 (154 amp) burst, Giant Power- I test ran them today on my e-soarer and they performed OK. The 2200ma are 35C, 70C burst. Its not a big deal to move on and use the 2900's for other models, get some more matching 2200ma packs but it would be good to understand whats going on here.
  8. Thanks for the interest and thoughts on this matter.. I'm the chap with the model described by Ian. This issue with 3S 2900ma lipos running for a fraction of the time of identical setup using 2200 lipos for a circa 3 and a half minute flight is a puzzle. Just to clear up a few queries- the control card starts the power run after a 30 second delay, it has a governor to increase power output to sustain airspeed in climbs and aerobatics, and it has a timer to shut motor down after a selected duration. In effect it simply provides a simple automatic throttle and cut off function. This set up is new to me and learning fast, however the plan is not to run lipo's to the ESC cut off but use the timed cutoff- its clear that the ESC cutoff is discharging the 2200ma cell too much. The power train is working to all expected parameters...wattage, rpm etc Anyway the problem remains that 2 brand new 2900ma lipo's (good brand) are both behaving identically in fraction of time of the brand new 2200ma, and clearly nowhere near the ESC cut off voltage, or the ideal discharge output.
