  1. It's not attributed to Brexit at all. The EU had already decided on this to be introduced before our exit so it was coming anyway, regardless.
  2. 2 DC-3 heading North this morning and a B-17 heading South this evening.
  3. That's a first class job there peesh, take a pat on the back from me.
  4. @trevor crook. I follow the same cleaning regime as yourself with an occasional clay bar of the paintwork.
  5. I'm probably going to attract critisism here but personally, I'd test the NiCADs first to see if they are okay, charge them, cycle them and test under load. If they pass then you have a better source than NiMH and if keeps them out of landfill.
  6. Well the advantages of NiMH are that they are cheaper, don't need a religious charging regime, can take a lot of abuse, don't need additional trickery to reduce the voltage, don't need a special charger and are much easier to obtain.
  7. Nice one, glad you found what you was looking for. I don't know about 4Max servos but if they have good reviews then it will be based on genuine 4Max servos so buy directly from them, if they are not something like rebranded TowerPro then they will be made specifically for them to their spec. The problem comes when you buy outside of the proper retailer. TowerPro being a good example, decent budget servos but buy from Steve Webb or other reputable trader supplied directly by them as they are cloned to death and of widely varying reliability elsewhere.
  8. I totally agree that the passion is far more interesting Piers and would say is far more indicative of the dedicated aeromodeller than what they spend and luckily that's how the thread has largely flowed but I'm intrigued by the reason for asking for figures of hard cash? Some people are on a hair trigger just itching to tell you of the infinite pot of money at their disposal which a question like this tempts. Every large club has one member like that....
  9. I'm curious why this question was even asked? You spend what you can, have available or want to continue doing it, why does there need to be a figure?
  10. It worked well at Sandown Park, the place was absolutely ram packed from beginning to end while it was still being run by the club. Whilst I see your point about the 50k turbine there is still a place for it at a show, it gives new modellers something to aspire to and older ones something to ponder on and if that fails, it's something to enjoy whilst watching between shopping. Wings & Wheels for me this year in June.
  11. PDR.....Yes he is knowledgable but his manner in passing it on was awful, it was on the verge of demeaning that someone could possibly ask such ridiculously easy questions, he would even get irritated if the poster didn't get it straight away. He didn't miss an opportunity to tell you of the multiple Degrees he held, how he was revered in his field and how he couldn't help, nor made any attempt to play it down that people saw him as a God. He was guilty of getting personal himself with his unbound sarcasm and I witnessed on many an occasion him gleefully put down other members. He hated being challenged, turning on the "offender" and leading a pile on from his disciples that would escape any action by the admin team. I mentioned earlier of the endless times I heard his name mentioned as a reason for never returning to the site. Pompous and narcissistic describes him perfectly, his avatar and signature confirmed that. Private forums are almost always a sideline for the originator so Greg and Nigel were not unique there, they do it for the love not the financial reward. I also contributed financially but the technical issues always plagued the site, moderation was poor and the layout was drab and uninspiring, there was more tumbleweed than posts most of the time because of the exodus of members . Even the admin team abandoned it in it's final year. That's why it died. Just my tuppence worth also......
  12. Yes Matty, FB is a nightmare for looking up historical and technical content. I see RCMF have migrated over there so the technical difficulties and funding issues will have been eradicated.
  13. Fair enough, I didn't check but they still have some valid points with areas of the site that haven't been updated since they joined 7 years ago.
  14. The OP came into it as the new site without using the old one so the new format is not new to them, it's all they know. The comments in the past (and in this thread) have been from users who used the old format, all comparing the new with the old so it's interesting and valid to read an opinion through fresh eyes.
  15. I reckon in the case of UK RC forums an overweight worm wearing a cardigan and worm sized trilby would just squeeze under it.... ?
  16. Because the bar is set for the arena of the particular competition, so raising that bar would mean contributing elsewhere to make others more competitive.
  17. An opinion I also share Cassandra.........and allowing selected members to roam freely without being kept in check to become beyond the control of moderation. Time and time again I saw comments from former members saying that they were never to return whilst particular members were still there......looks like the site reaped what it didn't sow.
  18. I'm pretty sure that what Cassandra meant by a low bar is that there are now virtually no UK forums left and that the ones remaining are very poorly attended.
  19. He headed the topic with and referred in his opening reply to the "Website" which is the whole RCME online presence in it's entirety and then gave examples of areas on the site which have not been updated since 2012 to clarify his observations. He then closed by clearly stating that "the forums are a lot better" so no criticism there. I can't see the confusion in honesty.
  20. Don is an expat and speaks fluent English as his first language.
  21. You are a much better code breaker than I Gary. I've never been much good at deciphering poor comprehension and badly punctuated sentences.
  22. There are a few used models on the BMFA classifieds, also contact Martin Thompson, he has been dealing in used models for 20 years and is brutally honest about the stock he sells, if it's skip fodder or flies like a brick he'll say so!
  23. Sorry but I don't understand gibberish....."Son".....
