  1. Hi again dg, kits still available ? Any update on postage/carriage cost ? Over ....
  2. Thanks GG, very much appreciated. I am hoping john stennard will reply.... On page 69, top rh picture, that motor from Swm, Steve Webb models ??? Again, help greatly appreciated. The 20p picture, the very small Rx on the rhs, a microaces jobby ?? Anyone ?
  3. I read with interest in mays rcme issue, The Insider, by John Stennard, page 67, top rh corner picture, saying " at around £4 a time these little power units have proved popular with indoor fliers ", please please please John Stennard, or anyone in the know, from where are these units available please ? I know about the micro aces stuff. I presume the small brushless motor is from ( swm ) steve webb models ?? Thanks in advance for your help.
  4. Hi Dd LL54, caernarfon area north wales
  5. Hi again dd, I am assuming both kits are complete and unstarted, is that correct please. Please could you show content s . The beechcraft kit the box lid just lifts off. Not sure about Rare bird box, may be a lift off lid, may be a contents slide out type of box. Sorry to hassle.... Over.....
  6. £25 plus postage ? About how much would postage be dd please ? Over...
  7. Here here ( hear hear, which ever way it's said ) , nice one Franz. Nice looking weather...unlike UK, biblical rain again...
  8. Please see pm just sent.... Seems as if others are also interested too.
  9. How much ? Plus postage....
  10. Why naked bulbs ? Even a 12v 5 watt bulb will get quite warm. A 12v 21w even warmer/hotter, supply voltage dependant. Go to breakers or halfrauds and get a bulb holder/lamp unit..... I do like the idea of an upsidedown Belfast sink.....
  11. Does the new msl d1000 still have castor or gone synthetic now ?
  12. Wow ! I have been using wheelspin in the past. Leeds model shop has been mentioned in the past as has the shop advertised in rcme, Weston's, but that contains no castor. PAW recommend a weston's fuel but check. Paraffin, castor, ether and a drop of ipn or similar John deer "easy start' has highest ether content. Paraffin is available Paw used to do castor, know any angina suffers ? Leccy may have beaten me with his reply so no worries Yuo may come across some reluctance to sending stuff via royal mail ( just like lipos ) but some carriers will send it Happy flicking, lots of burps and brrrrr's to come. Been putting off reading this thread until engine is running
  13. Great story leccy and extremely plausable. Nice me Phil, bb's and bw's etc. can still be had, newish, dens model supplies in UK, Cox international as you say, exmodelengines and mecoa, buy mecoa is not very uk friendly it seems. Silencers and rc throttles are available too. The td09's I have can be heard in the next village unsilenced ! Would love a 15, in the style of td09, and/or any rC silenced Cox. Only model I ever managed to set on fire ( only knew it was ablaze due to the heat ) was a Cox pt19 cl plane. Blew it out with no damage to me or the plastic Would love one of those pt19's and a Stuka ! Mecoa may be making pt19's. Cox model engine forum, Turbines.... Remember the reduced nitro rules in glow fuels, anyone ? Happy landings out there.
  14. Hi eb, glad you have an IC engine, s petrol one at that ! If answering your question has resulted in thread drift, perhaps you should not have asked ? Anyways, back to the future of our IC engines...it seems methanol is bring used to power ships ! They don't do 40 nautical miles to the ton, or do they ? Balsa shortages/price hikes due to wind turbine blades....mmmm. Enjoy while you can.
  15. Hi eb, you posed a question as did I, more than once. Many members on here also pose questions.
  16. Hi John, hope that's not the plant that blow up quite some years ago now...remember that anyone ?
  17. With respect, how can talking about IC engine fuel be "thread drift " ? That's a bit like saying batteries have nothing to do with electric propulsion, and, weather, the air, the medium in which model aeroplanes fly, is irrelevant ? God knows how much "drift" will take place in the "car" thread, electric "fuel" versus "refined crude oil" or even "grown" fuel....etc... However, I will shut up about the "fuel" dimension to this thread. Watch the repeat of the TV program on Sunday probably, I am sure it was the "hairy bikers" , and listen for the word mentioned whilst they where in the distillery.... Have a great day out there.
  18. A ww1 nerve/poison gas.... Methanol, that's the word I heard mentioned on the TV program. I mentioned it followed by a ? Will watch repeat on Sunday ? Funnily enough glow engines run on the stuff.
  19. IC engines, burn a fuel, glows use a methanol fuel If the fuel becomes unavailable, could it be "home made" ? I am sure the TV program I heard the "methanol" being mentioned will be repeated Sunday. Lots of stainless steel kit and two hairy bikers if I am correct..... Someone mentioned getting the liquids from chemists shop way back when, and running s Cox BB with no nitro. I have run Cox bb's on Mt straight castor... So, if fuel becomes unavailable, could home brew ( or fermented/distilled ????? ) Fuel be made, meaning that tea chest full of engines under the bench could be still used ?? Or if you like, drink yourself to death instead. Happy landings hick......
  20. If I remember correctly I was told that wartime spitfire compasses contained s liquid, which was drunk. Purple meths was also drunk The stuff I have which I have been told NOT TO DRINK can be used as a basis for a FUEL, but needs lots of sugar to make it, as a FUEL. Even cooking brandy will burn eg xmas pud etc.. If you believe "whisky galore" , it will make a truck petrol engine "perform"... Anyways, alcohol fuels have been used for some time.....
  21. Only as a fuel NOT as a drink, a FUEL. It was mentioned on a tv program so add plenty of seasoning
  22. In a recent TV cookery program it was said that 80 percent home made alcohol was/is methanol ? Takes lots of sugar to make it I was told, gives me a headache, absorbs moisture like billyo and by God the best cleaner/degreaser I have used apart from carbontet . I treat the stuff with very real caution ! Still not plucked up enough courage to put some in the moped ! 🤓
  23. Draw around each part, even wing profile at centre, as accurately as you can BEFORE you glue everything together so you have "patterns".....you know it makes sense. May I ask is yours a mk1 ?? Anyways enjoy. Even a mk1 40 powered 3 channel is well capable of some aerotricks and inverted flight, at least mine was. Well able to fly in windy weather ( when isn't it windy in this country, near the west coast ) reliably. Favourite "trick" was to make model appear to 'fly backwards', good response practise. Enjoy !
  24. Hope your not putting fuel on top/under/next to your particular storage method. Best keep those too best friends far apart I feel... Only commenting is all
