  1. I picked up this model some time back long before I was able to fly her well tonight was the night . Jumping in between the showers I headed up to the flying field to give her a go. The model tipped over on the first attempt due to too quick a release of the elevator. The second attempt was much better up up and away a few clicks of up and a couple of right and she was all good. Then a strange sound started to come from the plane time to cut the flight short and bring her in. I'll give myself a 7/10 for the landing. Examination of the model revealed that some of the nose weight had come loose and was rubbing against the spinner an easy fix and she will be ready to try again.
  2. Thank you ,I used old stock Solartex drab olive and buff the paint is Vallejo both hand and airbrushed on.
  3. Have a vintage Falcon project in mind crying out for a nice colourful finish.
  4. It's 100% polyester used for lining dresses available in multiple colours
  5. I really wanted the engine to be enclose it still took some doing getting it all in but worth the effort. Couldn't agree more regarding the Flair kits I have a Fokker D7 which I love flying (massively over powered with a Saito 100) and another still in the box.
  6. Really interesting I'll sure experiment with the techniques you have described the model looks great.
  7. Cheers Eric ,one lunatic in the club is enough 😆
  8. Thank you for your kind works it's an OS 48 up front
  9. Wow, the lining weight is 60g/m2 so very favourable to Oratex at a fraction of the cost.
  10. I picked up the unpainted figure which I thought would be a perfect fit to the SE5A just needed to paint it.
  11. I have had great fun building this model added extra detail with plasticard. Also added the riblets (is that what they are called?) between the main ribs to improve the appearance. Just waiting for a break in the weather for the maiden.
  12. Mod podge is a water based glue, sealer and finisher. Gorilla glue works much the same
  13. I picked up this old kit at a crazy price from a chap selling up. Itsbeen an interesting build so far lots and lots of balsa blocks (carve away until tbe plane appears 😂) Power will be a DLE 20CC petrol is new to me so that's going to be interesting.
  14. After almost running out of old stock Solartex during my last build. I swore that I would not put myself in that position again. I looked for an alternative and quickly realised that options are limited. I then stumbled on a YouTuber who had used 100% polyester. It shrinks when heated with an iron or heat gun the only problem was how to stick it to the airframe. After some experiments I discovered that Mod Podge applied and allowed to dry would reactive when heat was applied through the polyester via an iron. Shrinking via a heat gun and a couple of coats of 50/50 mix shrinking dope and thinners does the job ready for a paint scheme.
  15. One year on from my first solo flight I felt brave enough to fly in a bit of a blow for me...great fun was had.
