  1. Hi, I have recently moved to a village called Sutton, about 6 miles west of Ely.  I need to find a club nearby to join.  Does anyone know of one and who I would need to contact?  I mainly fly IC.  Cheers  Chris
  2. I've personally always wanted to have a Westland Whirlwind as a model, but then, I do prefer the less common models.  2nd would be the Stuka with the Storch finishing a close 3rd.
  3. lol  I must admit that electric power still confuses me I had a automatic charger for my Nicads/NmHs etc (think it is a Novo Pro?  Yellow thingy) and these lipos seem to have replaced everything.  I did pick up a couple of 2s lipo batterys + charger (they were for a helicopter I believe).  I don't know the power of them but I guess if I can find a flying wing to suit those then that would be ideal.
  4. Thanks Chris for the links.  Looks good.  Since I'm moving house currently everything is packed away in boxes.  I might have to go hunting for batteries etc to see if I've got anything suitable
  5. Oops sorry  I'm looking for a powered model to fly off a flat field. I guess best for performance against price.  One of the pluses with the Zaggi was it's £45 price tag (if I remember correctly).  I've seen an advert for the Mini Slinger and wondered what that would be like.  I can't be too precise about the conditions that I will be flying it in since I just left my club due to the fact that I am moving in the next couple of months to a village called Sutton (just west of Ely) and don't know what clubs there are in that area yet.
  6. Hi all,  I just thought I'd get the forum's opinion on what is the best flying wing out there.  I had a Zaggi a few years ago and fancy getting something similar.  What do you recommend?
  7. Its a real pain when that happens, especially when you realise that the plane you were concentrating on is actually a fly and thats when the frantic searching begins... :-)
  8. IMHO, there are too many of these TBH! Some texts/messages are worst than cryptic crosswords trying to figure out what people are saying. Especially if you add my wifes spelling/texting ability into the equation lol. IMHO - In My Humble Opinion TBH - To Be Honest LOL - Laugh Out Loud Chris
  9. Rolling On Floor, Laughing My Arse Off
  10. To be fair, you don't have to remember the number, just enter it once and the forum remembers that you are a subscriber.
  11. I think Julios must have an itchy trigger finger ;-)
  12. Alistair, Wasn't the solar powered torch one of those old jokes, like the water proof sponge? I do have a vague memory of the glider you're talking about. I just wondered if, with all of the advanced in battery power, motors and solar power, how fay away we are to having 'truely' solar powered model planes.
  13. Maybe RCM&E should publish a plan for a solar powered plane/glider?
  14. Also, with articles like that, it would be probably be a good idea to be able to have the series permanently on this website, so that they can be referred to at a later date. I would also like to see that done with the workshop hints. The number of times I can vaguely remember a good idea I saw in the magazine but cannot remember it months later when I need it....
  15. Hi Graham, I enjoy the free plans RCM&E provide and am currently finishing off the DH Vampire from earlier this year. One thing I was wondering was if it was possible for RCM&E to supply the CNC pre-cut parts. I seem to remember this being done before and it would probably make the plans even more popular. A lot of people complain that there are too many ARTF's on the market and not enough kits so by doing this builders get the best of both worlds. A plan if they want to build the plan 'from scratch' and a kit if they want some of the work already done for them. Cheers Chris
  16. Still, its got to be more environmentally friendly than off roading or rally driving, to name but two.
  17. I've been thinking about writing in to RCM&E asking about if they could do an article/series on designing your own planes using AutoCAD or whatever other applications their designers use. Since a large percentage of the market now seems to be ARTF, it would be nice to have the design skills in hand to build and fly a completely unique model.
  18. I think most of the best tips have already been given above but another tip would be to make sure that you can tell which way up your plane is. My first plane was a Flair Magnatilla which I built and covered in a lovely red colour. On its fourth flight on the first day, it somehow managed to turn upside down without myself or my trainer noticing and when it started diving towards the floor, I pulled up on the elevator with the evitable crunch... Maybe we should start a new thread. Your most memorable/embaressing crash!
