  1. Thanks for your input gents, I'm very much in the 'careful operation' camp with regard to extra switches, but again, thanks for your views. Bob.
  2. I wonder if anyone might suggest a good and safe wiring diagram or description illustrating the connection of motor - esc - on/off safety switching - receiver?. Or suggest a thread I'm missing...……. thanks Bob
  3. Having just switched on my newish I Charger unit I saw a larg-ish puff of blue smoke coming out of the input lead area. Enquiries with an R\C electronics repairer reveal that it might not economically viable to repair ie spares will be difficult to source outside of China, ..............so it probably means a new charger. Ive only just taken to electrics and have a Sebart Sukhoi 50e size requiring 2 x 4000mah 6S's to be charged twice a week-ish so can anyone reccommend a decent sub £150 - £100 charger to do that job please? Many thanks Bob
  4. Dont suppose you would consider an OS 22cc petrol engine? Ive had one in a Probuild 110 size F3a Infinity and it flew with the same sort of performance as the same airframe originally powered by a YS 110s. I found both the 22cc and the 33cc OS's to be very reliable and cheap to run with plenty of power. Just a thought............ Bob V
  5. Anyone help with name of the carbon fibre push rod and fittings kits please? thanks Bob V
  6. Anyone know where I might source a new ignition module for the OS 22 GT as mine appears to have packed up. Not had any problems with the engine, starts easily and runs consistently but the ignition module seems to be failing as engine will run badly for a minute or so then die. Swapped out for my OS 33 module and the 22 runs perfectly again. I cant seem to find any advertised nationally. RExcel unit as an alternative?. many thanks Bob
  7. Just to add my support for the remarks by Micheal and Bryan, Peter's just repaired my YS 110s valve cover cylinder head threads using helicoils, he was very quick and at a most reasonable price. Excellent service Peter. Bob Vaughan
  8. How about 3 LiFe 6.6 @ 1100mah, two feeding the reciever, and one on another separate switch feeding the ignition unit?. Unfortunately due to c of g limitatons they will all be very close the firewall although the receciever can be mounted almost a foot further back to give best rf separation...........I'm guessing a little here, any thoughts would be appreciated. Regards Bob
  9. Thanks so far boys, I'm trying to save a little on weight but I see the logic/sense of the two separated circuits ie two batteries and switches. Happy New Year to all, Bob.
  10. Anyone give me a pointer on how best to power the following set up please? I have built a 76'' F3a model powered by an OS33 GT and pipe, at about 11 to 12lbs all up weight. I have fitted JR 2.4 reciever and Savox servos (6 volt spec) all round and need to power the ignition module as well. I am thinking of a single 6.6 volt Life battery at a guess? ie on one switch and circuit? any advice appreciated. Thanks Bob V
  11. Anyone help with this one please. I'm building a 2 meter F3a airframe from a US plan and UK laser cut parts (long story). I had a limited number of photos to work from but not enough detail to show the profile detail of the stab/ elevator join. Presumably the respective stab trailing edge and elevator leading edge are both rounded to a simple aerofoil shape?. Apologies if the answer is obvious!. Many thanks Bob V
  12. Graham, It did indeed do 'the trick'. Many thanks Bob
  13. Foam sheeted F3a wing at 76''. Not having done this before I'm just pondering the best way to glue the wing sleeve portion into the wing without getting epoxy down the sleeve and thus fouling the tube space, if that makes sense. The fit between the sleeve and the 'false rib' is tight and likely to foul any taped end solution, some sort of thin but tight end plug would seem to be the answer, any advice please? Many thanks, Bob V.
