  1. Easy, done it and it all works. Dual servo wing mix Set up flaps to, say, 70% and flip the switch. Lo and behold it all works as required !! Thanks for the help guys.
  2. OK I'll give it a try, sounds possible. Going to look closer but I'm sure to get a two servo wing to work (as on my Calmato) one servo is in the aileron channel and one is in the Aux.  So if I'm right how do you get the up flap/ailerons to work off the flap switch? Rx is an Orange 6 channel and it's an electric powered soarer so throttle will have to stay as throttle!!   SteveW Edited By steve watkin on 02/04/2012 18:45:43
  3. Can anyone help with a way to configure "up aileron" braking with a DX6i with a two servo wing (no flaps) Any ideas please? Cheers SteveW
  4. If I buy the Corona JR 2.4 module for my 3810 what Rx can I use? Obviously the Corona one will be OK but that is out of stock at GC at the moment so what about the Frsky one, will that work? If not is there anything other than Corona that will be OK for the time being untill they come back into stock? Edited By steve watkin on 31/03/2012 16:21:36
  5. What's the quality of the fitted electronics like in the Plug and play version of the Diamond 2.5? Are the servos tough enough? Metal or plastic gears? How easy is it to sort the braking out on the ESC? Any probs using the BEC?
  6. Get your bike out of the shed. I commute and do most journeys on mine and it negates all the problems of fuel prices, traffic jams and fuel availability !!
  7. Thinking of getting my first "fast" rc model although I've been flying for years !! These two look similar but the price is very different. Can anyone enlighten me as to the differences and whether the Multiplex offering is worth the extra over the Hobbyking Radjet. Cheers
  8. Had a look a the database but the Calmato comes with a motor so there's not much I can fill in !!
  9. Bit more flying done now, maybe 10 flights in all. Must say I'm impressed with the Calmato as it flies well but not sure if it's really a "trainer" as such. Does nice neg G manoeuvres and will do big outside loops from level inverted flight ! Power seems well matched, will climb out a good speed at 45 degrees, or more. Slows down well and lands nose up on the rear wheels first. Yes it's a nice aeroplane so thanks for the original recommendation by Tim H earlier in this thread. Wings still held together as per the instructions, i.e. no glue and all is well--------------so far!
  10. Malcolm,   You have got to try making a 2.4g Tx! It's really easy, if I can do it with almost no electronic knowledge I'm sure most modellers would be able. And it doesn't cost a lot. From memory the 2.4g tx module was about £12 so that along with some other bits from ebay and you are up and running. Even if you don't ever fly it you can have great fun trying all the various combinations that Phil has designed into it and watching  the LEDs go on and off ! 11. Hi Gordon, Yes you are right i will also have the facility to 'propo' the throttle at the beginning, although I'm planning on adjusting the prop and cell count 'till it flies like a f/f model when on full throttle. The s/c emulation board that Phil supplied does not have full propo throttle available (would be hard with just one button!) so the model has got to work on full throttle. Lots of challenges to stimulate the old grey matter!!!   Regards SteveW Posted by GeeW on 26/02/2012 18:43:12: Steve A propo throttle also helps in the setting up stage as well. Elevators are for people who don't know how to trim a model properly and will never catch on!   Gordon   Edited By David Ashby on 27/02/2012 19:53:03
  12. David, There seems to be some interest in this s/c thing so should this thread be moved to a different heading, say "Single channel thoughts" and then we can get on with discussing it without moderation? Then Simplex info can stay here. Regards SteveW
  13. Malcolm,   Have you seen http://www.singlechannel.co.uk/ ? I've just made myself a 2.4 Ghz single chanel button Tx for not much money. Really looking forward to trying it out.   SteveW       Edited By steve watkin on 26/02/2012 21:17:01 Edited By David Ashby on 27/02/2012 19:54:01
  14. Gonzo, You still in London? I'm in Orpington and we have a reasonably big park nearby (Norman Park) where we are allowed to fly electric. So I think the s/c Tomboy will be OK there, although getting it to land where all the other fliers land won't be easy ! Plan is to fly it first with propo (Spektrum Tx and one of those £7 orange Rx) on the rudder and set the rates so I can emulate the s/c rudder movement. Once I get it all trimmed I'll go on to the 2.4Ghz button set that I've made. At the moment I'm only half way through the build so it will be a while before i fly it. Cheers SteveW Edited By David Ashby on 27/02/2012 20:00:10
  15. Maiden flight today and all went well. C of G a little bit rearward so it flicks into spin from a stall easily. But never the less it's a nice smooth flier with plenty of power. I like it !!
