  1. Hi Guys... When I started this thread I was not sure if anybody would reply to my posting... WOW there has been almost 36000 viewing's to date.... ooooower! I have read every post since day one. This plane has proved its worth and I'm sure it will continue to help many more guy's get into the air... It set me up real good and I still have the bug! hi hi. I would just like to thank the Forum and all who have taken the time to post for without them and the forum I for one would still be taking off more times than I was landing !! If your new to the hobby you cant go wrong with this starter plane and with this forum behind you. Best regards Jon ... Hayling Is, Hampshire, UK
  2. Hi Busterprop While I dont doubt anything you have said I must say I'm quite surprised  that your C of G was that far out, did you build it as per the instructions?    When I started this thread I had little idea about building anything and  the C of G was the last thing on my mind. Also thoes that so kindly answered my many questions on this forum had little idea about the EP as it was a very new model then. I simply followed the instructions.   I must have been very lucky as just by slightly adjusting the position of the battery it flew first time. Then after a few minor adjustments to the trim it was a dream and it even impressed my I/C loving instructor!   As for flying slowly I even managed to hold her at about 10ft of the ground at zero ground speed in a very light breeze, once I had passed my test that is!   Jon
  3. Thanks Bruce & Timbo Guess what I'm really asking is by upgrading in this manor am I limiting myself in any way. Will I wish at some latter stage that I had purchase all new gear?   Jon Edited By Jon on 03/12/2009 16:17:58 Edited By Jon on 03/12/2009 16:19:00
  4. Thanks Bruce & Timbo Sounds just great, then I'll have a go if thats all there is to it...  Guess its worth it, NOT investing in a brand new 2.4Ghz TX/RX pakage... unless you know better. Jon
  5. Hi...Really hope you have all been keeping well, I have been out of the hobby for about a year now  due to one thing and another  Say no more!  But alls mended and fine again now. So have gotten a bit out of touch with flying things...    I still have my JR 35Mhz PCM9XII... Are you saying I could fit a Spektrum 2,4Ghz Module and it would all work just great?   Jon, getting back into it    Edited By Jon on 03/12/2009 15:06:25
  6.   Take Timbo’s advice Phil B..... He helped me right from the start of this thread...   The Seagul fly's very well on a 4s 2500ma but  I use 2 x 2500 4s in parallel and get about 12 to 15mins flying time ... at 3s I think you will end up with shorter fights due to drawing more current. ‘ good luck
  7. Do you use your thumbs then Martin?   Do you find the pencil lead sticks into the covering Alex?
  8. I have made a timber thingamabob that sits under the wings and sandwiches a nice bit of round foam (pipe lagging) between it and the wing covering at the point of the C of G. I'd would include a photo for you but it would be a bit too embarrassing!   Its not the best idea I'm sure and with a few mods here and there I have been able to use it for my last 4 planes.   I'm trying to balance a Mini Extra 260 (AUW 19oz) which has quite an tight tolerance, just + or - a couple of mill.   Whats your recommendations for the best C of G Thingamabob that works on most planes...   I promise not to giggle at you photos
  9. Yer  I was.. but I spent it all on Girls or planes depending on the weather!
  10. My first job when I left school at 14 & 3/4s was at Weeks & Sons in Bromley High St (Early form of B&Q but you got served by a real person, anybody remember them, are they still there?) My job was to help clean and service old things like that. We used to have a whopping big machine that sharpened the rotary cutting drum too. It was a filthy job and  also quite dangerous for a youngster like me   I got 2s & 3d  for a 45 hour week. (about 11p I think in new money) Hard times but at least you could get a bank loan in the good old days!   Jon
  11. Nice one Gemma Now all you need to do is fit some wings to it and fly to our site which could really do with your help.   See, now your in business... jon   oh and Some Pic's please
  12. I have an arrangement with a caravan site owner who lets me use one of his fields, Its a really great feeling flying in free air space so I know how you'll be feeling...  enjoy it jon
  13. Best grass to use is the type that never needs any cutting or rolling. They use it on my Phoenix simulator   Good luck with the new site... but where is it? jon
  14. Yes Ben they were 3 of BRCs cheapest but the rear end has to work a bit harder so I used the one thats still showing.... Jon
  15. Hi Ben Have a read of the 4th post in this thread, its on page one.... a list of the bits I used...   I never had any probs with any of them apart from when a I did a full power on vertical nose down landing! Nice thing about such landings is you only do them once with each plane you fly! see you at the field some time when this ruddy weather breaks. Jon
