  1. Have you balanced the aircraft laterally? There's a honking great silencer hanging off the right side which may well account for the screwing out of erect loops to the right and inverted loops to the left.
  2. The photo of the flat twin was easier to identify. It's a Matador 60 twin designed by Derek Giles. It was a homebuilt engine and the plans are still available from Sarik: https://www.sarikhobbies.com/product/matador-60-60-twin-plan-rc1539/ Still no idea on the single cylinder engine.
  3. Genuinely interested as to why the OP hasn't seen a thread on this subject on the forum.... IE why don't all the other BMFA members on this forum not need to directly contact a member of the BMFA staff here to check for updates to the handbook. Is it because we all check for updates on the BMFA website? Or that we take advantage of the email updates that the BMFA offer on such things as changes to regulations, or even, dare I say it, updates to the BMFA handbook.... It is perfectly possible to help one's self.
  4. Because you didn't answer my question about which version of BMFA handbook you currently have printed off, plus the fact that you've responded to Andy Symonds statement that an updated version is due soon, that you'll then print off, can I ask again which version you currently refer to prior to going flying? You repeatedly pop up on threads about model flying legislation giving advice, yet it appears you are currently unable to access any copy of the handbook. You also take great delight in jumping into threads from beginners asking for advice and offering them confusing and often out of date or wrong information. I have seen other members ask you this questions before without being answered: do you currently fly R/C models?
  5. What version of the BMFA handbook do you already refer to? As you could just update it manually if you don't wish to print the whole document again....
  6. Magazine Exchange website is working fine. I bought some magazines from it just before Xmas. It does list the issue with the Hodson DH84, but currently no stock. Worth checking back every so often if other avenues fail. https://www.magazineexchange.co.uk/cw/rc-model-world-magazine-september-1987-issue.html
  7. Hi Roy Looking good, great progress. I have to agree with regards the elevator linkage. I've seen the plan full size today for the first time (managed to rescue a kit from the BMFA Classifieds!). I was hoping that using a modern, small servo for the elevator would avoid the need for the kinky linkage, but I could see from the plan that the aileron torque rods were in the mix, as you said. I may now look at putting my elevator servo behind F4 so it avoids the aileron linkages and maybe helps to get the balance point right if I use a slightly heavier motor than shown on the plan. Interesting to see your clubmate old model with the Cox Tee Dee 09. I bet that shifted and was very audible in the air! I'll start my own thread soon, but keep up the good work!
  8. Note that the iGull name is now defunct and the business is now called Sky High RC. The Puppeteer ribs sets can be found here: https://skyhighrc.co.uk/flair-puppeteer-rc-scale-model-aeroplane-laser-cut-balsaply-rib-sets
  9. Oh dear - your link is for a Super 60 which is the wrong model. Try this instead https://belairdigital.co.uk/detail.asp?id=495
  10. Galaxy models made the Foxjet which was just a swept wing single vertical tail style model. FMK models made a small F-15 style model which was very similar to the Raider. Was often demonstrated at shows as a pair of models fitted with piped MDS .15 engines which were copies of the Rossi .15. Qwate farst..
  11. Looking good. The jet pipes set it off a treat!
  12. The plan shows a y pushrod, but the entire thing is just wire. No solid dowel rod or such to stiffen it up. I think by using a smaller servo it will be possible to get rid of the big kink in the rod as it passes through F4 and have a straight run from servo arm to the elevator torque rods. I'll either use a dowel or some carbon rod as the main part of it anyway!
  13. Nice progress Roy. What are your thoughts on the shape and routing of the elevator pushrod as shown on the plan? It's not very direct or rigid looking to my eyes!
  14. Anything manufactured in a series can turn out faulty. What is the point in a thread that says I bought a Wizzkits Super looper 3000 and it was faulty? There's no guarantee that someone else's kit of the same model is faulty and all you are doing is polluting the forum with nonsense. All of us in the UK have legislation to help us as consumers if we buy a pup. Of course, as many have been telling the OP, you could always fix your faulty model with one drop of glue and spare us all. Or perhaps just get a refund and get a less demanding hobby?
  15. Not only did you need to have a license for your radio kit, but you also had to send the renewal away in the post. Terrible bureaucracy in the bad old days...
  16. Looking forward to seeing this little bundle of fun coming together Roy!
  17. My Hiboy is certainly constant chord. Why would you complicate manufacture of a very simple model aeroplane by using a tapered wing which has no advantages on a trainer model. I also don't believe the Hiboy flies faster than any other trainers on the market. I believe that there was a trend for people to fit them with modern Schnuerle ported 46 glows when the original instructions said that an Enya 35 was ample. Certainly mine flies nice and gently at just below half throttle in level flight. It was last used this summer to give 3 of my old Uni mates some trial flights and they certainly got the hang soon enough.
  18. How does suggesting plans for a trainer fill the brief of "looking more like a scale model than a trainer"?
  19. What about the plan for the old pilot kits Citabria 20? Perfect for a 25 2-stroke and capable of beyter than trainer like performance. Plan with all parts shown is available on outerzone
  20. Yes and they do not manufacture Model Technics diesel fuel....
  21. Great news for next year, not so good if you want to flying now though eh?
  22. Also, I'm fairly certain that MSLs D1000 formula uses Klotz Benol which according to Klotz is 100% castor oil.
  23. If you are referring to Southern sports diesel mix being 20% castor then I suggest reading the label again as its 30% oil. Perfect for my old Mills, EDs and DCs.
  24. And how is it possible to buy Southern Model craft fuel directly unless you live in Tonbridge or at a show, which there won't be any until next summer? Model Technics do not exist anymore and as I said, Model Shop Leeds now mix and sell D1000 and will ship. I do personally use and prefer Southern Model craft sports diesel mix, but I but it once a year in bulk at the LMA Elvington show.
  25. Model Shop Leeds make and sell diesel fuel and will post it. Their D1000 mix is ideal for sports type plain bearing diesels.
