  1. The cowl fell off on an earlier flight. Not sure if the same thing happened now.
  2. Sorry. Looks like I got the weight of the crashed one wrong, reading his text too quickly. He was vague about the weight but, apparently, well over 12 kg. Over 13 kg, if I read correctly now. Being over-weight certainly didn't help. edit:
  3. How is the weight looking? A couple of days ago, a 1/5 Dave Anderson Ta 152 tip stalled turning to finals, and crashed, in Finland. The guy said that weight was around 5 kg, and he might have been at a little low airspeed. Cannot completely rule out technical failure, though. At least this one, apparently, had the same wing profile from root to tip, and some smarter guys say that then even washout might not help to avoid tip stall. Reynolds numbers and such.
  4. A few hours ago, trying to enter, I got a message that said something about cookies. Firefox on Windows 10. Outside UK.
  5. Where I live, EPS foam is listed among recyclable packaging plastics. Larger pieces might need to be broken down before fitting in the containers. If I put plastics in regular trash, it will come back to me as electricity.
  6. In recent days: more F/A-18s than usual. F-15 (6 is the most I saw at one time), Gripens, and some sort of an Airbus tanker. Not sure if it is RAF or RCAF.
  7. You can buy those ATM Lynx engines if you want to.... https://www.amtjets.com/form_pricelist.php ------------------------------------------------------------- What about....
  8. The free Inkscape vector graphics program can resize a PDF. Better make a copy of the original, so that you don't lose that, just in case. For tiled printing, use the Poster (I think) option in Adobe Reader.
  9. Looks smooth! I wonder if people would be interested in plans and canopies, like you've done with some other designs, for a small fee. (this is too large for me, so I'm out)
  10. A vector format PDF could be resized in Inkscape ... without making the lines thick.
  11. Did you set Acrobat reader (or browser) to view at 100%? PDF files can be resized in many graphics programmes. Inkscape is free.
  12. In USA, parkflyerplastics sells plastic parts and plans for many designs in this style. A bit smaller, as I recall.
  13. I've flown at -10 C. I made sure to keep the pack warm before flying, and restricted airflow to keep it from cooling the pack too much during flight. Fingerless gloves kept my hands happy for a while....
  14. I hear some have used the "paper sheet" that is used at medical facilities. You might have to buy a big roll, though.
  15. I suppose it is quite possible to put an electric motor and battery pack in it, if you really want to.
  16. Of course they are. If a business does not make money, it isn't in business for long.
  17. Hope he is OK. Elsewhere somebody mentioned recent health issues in the family.
  18. Elsewhere, somebody was wondering about difficulties contacting Laser Engines (not sure what was tried). Summer holidays?
  19. I heard that the guy who made those plans, Vincent Unrau, is no longer with us. His blog on rcgroups still has photos of his builds: https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/member.php?u=635372 ... and there's a Facebook page with photos and other images: https://www.facebook.com/foamboardaircraft/
  20. Is that frame/spine now stronger and heavier than it needs to be? Enough to consider cutting some lightening holes?
  21. Using a plane gives you less of a mess, whether shaping wood or foam.
  22. Anyway.... If you cannot find them commercialy, printing, cutting or painting your own isn't all that complicated.
