Phil 9
I had a look at vote counting and David it is more difficult and time consuming than I thought to give an accurate count. this is just for fun but I split aircraft into types Biplane, flying boat, Airliner ect to try and get a feel for how the vote is going. the vote so far looks like this 1. Biplane 2. WW2 warbird 3. light civilian 4 Military JetEdited By Phil B on 18/11/2010 11:49:
Simon Chaddock
I have always been partial to the Miles M20.No retracts required and with a Merlin XX "power egg" installation up front it should be possible to hide (and cool) almost any engine within the cowling. Apparently no original drawings survive so Mr Nijhuis would have to improvise a bit!

David Ashby - Moderator
Yes, no worries Phil. I'll sit down and have a count after voting closes probably March time. It's a bit early to get a trend and hasn't had a mention in the mag' although that man Barry is campaigning already
Phil 9
Yes very early yet. it is like looking at the football table after only two games of the season. but it was just a bit of fun and was not ment to be taken as a gospel or influence anyones voteEdited By Phil B on 18/11/2010 13:49:

Biggles' Elder Brother - Moderator
Typical Huh, young people today! Obviously he should have voted for the Classic - every decerning modeller knows its better! BEB
leccyflyer
As a venture that is intended to be commercial that pretty much excludes all of the very obscure types and so it's (IMO) a fine line to be walked between recognisable and over-modelled. As regards airliners and the like then once it gets beyond twins and into jets/ducted fans you are getting into much more specialised territory and excluding huge sections of the potential market place. Given where the hobby is at the moment any design will need to include electric and IC options - which makes it a bit difficult for jets. Single engined warbirds make for popular plans for a very good reason, they are popular aeroplanes.
Ross Clarkson
Can a Beverley be classed as an airliner Tony??? Surely it can!!!! Majestic in its beauty, and blooming big!!!!
Lima Hotel Foxtrot
Posted by David Ashby - RCME Administrator on 18/11/2010 08:14:41: Well I guess you could argue that the Lysander (winner 2009) wasn't a fighter and so perhaps a slighty more unusual winner Mutter, mutter, grumble, grumble, it's got guns on it, therefore is a ww2 warbird, mutter, grumble, grumble, mutter I'm liking this talk about airliners. batcho99
LHF. Thats what this thread is for!!! Everyone can air their opinions. I have voted for three warbirds, thats coz I love 'em. If the aircraft we're catagorised like Phil B has pointed out i'd prob have put three others. I must admit, i've always liked/wanted a nice single engine civilian prop jobby. I think something with a single engine is more do-able for most modellers, especially on a budget, and will sell more plans for Tony. Buying two or more four strokes can get expensive, and retracts too. Now an airliner sounds interesting I'd have to go over to the 'spark side'
Philkiteflyer
Warbirds, warbirds, . . . and more warbirds. Time for a change gentlemen. How is Tony on Bi-planes? Maybe a 'Between wars' or even prewar. Had another thought (ouch) how about 'Non-Allied'. Something from Europe, or even Asia. As for the Whirlwind, I still think the Mosquito is more Elegant. (look out here come the sparks ) My choice would be an electric powered Hannibal. Phillip C (NZ)

kiwi g
Here we go again ??? warbird ,twin ,civilian ,bipe, same old arguement (figure of speach) its going to interesting. as long as its not the obivious ,me 109, fw190 ,etcetc. Oh i forgot to mention, whirlwind. What do you guys reckon will be at the top this year. I wouldnt be surprised to see may be a twin , possibly beaufighter/ mossie. both done tho remember. Something totally different from what can be kit bought would be awsome. Thats probably why the lysander was popular last time. something like the anson or devon would be different. Then again that hall bulldog looks gullwing cool. So whats the bets on whats goin to win.... barries whirlwind ??
