Alan Gorham_
Couldn't have asked for a better kick-off to the season. Those of us who prefer the early evening to the mornings got plenty of flying in!
john stones 1 - Moderator
Great to see people back out enjoying a meet and fly, did the winds play ball ?
Phil Cooke
Saturday was brilliant all day with blue skies and a 20-25mph wind - North West not our most preferred South West but the lift was great only the landings are made more tricky. As so often happens the winds shifted after 6pm (tidal?) and by 7pm we were flying off the South West slope but most had gone home by then, the hardy few who were still there enjoyed superb flying until dark. Sunday was more challenging with SE winds until late in the day combined with some rain. Again a few stayed on (not me) and those who did enjoyed some fantastic flying on the South West slope after 6pm. Fair play to those who stuck out the day waiting for the winds to change! But we flew our socks off on the Saturday - 09:30 to 21:30 - like Al says, a great start to this slightly compressed season!

Phil Cooke
This weekend 10/11 July sees us flying once again on the superb coastal slopes near Abersoch, N. Wales as guests of the Lleyn MAC – and the forecast at this range looks promising! A reminder for anyone needing guidance to the chosen slope site each day – meet at the SPAR shop car park in Llanbedrog from 9:30am each morning. We will head for the slopes from there at 10am sharp and I will leave an A4 poster in the window of the shop with map references and details for the chosen slope for any latecomers! Any problems give me a ring but please understand the phone doesn’t always work that well on these remote hillsides! More details on this event here https://www.pssaonline.co.uk/.../lleyn-fly-for-fun-event.../. See you up there!

Rich Griff
Hi Phil, how is the wind situation on the Llyn, seems flat calm here near caernarfon, but we are inland a few miles quite close to Snowdon ?
Rich Griff
Up date, just phoned Phil, light winds forecast, local forecast for abersoch 10 mph from the west ish @ 2pm, they are going to be there all day, so will go over and have a look-see...still flat calm in caernarfon area. See Phil's map and info at Llanbedrog spar shop. Hope some flying takes place, at least it's dry and sunny and warming up nicely. Sods law, tomorrow it will be blowing a gale and horizontal rain, probably...

Phil Cooke
This weekend saw the PSSA fly at the Bwlch site down near Treorchy, South Wales. Conditions on the Saturday were overcast and blustery and the 20mph NE wind put us on 'The Wrecker' - great for flying but not ideal for landing our scale models - well done to all who took part on the day and big thanks to the SWSA members Steve Houghton, Joshua May and Phil May for their help in establishing and running the event! A write up will be completed soon for the PSSA site, for now here's some photos from the day! Bwlch 21 Photos 1

McG 6969
Hi Phil, Did I spot a Yugo F86 D (reg # 105) in between your pics? ... Wondering? Cheers Chris
Phil Cooke
Hiya Chris, hope you are well!? YES! There was a Yugo SabreDog in the mix, well spotted - but it wasnt flown unfortunately - and it hasn't been built from the Mass Build plans either, it was recently 'saved' on Ebay I think and renovated to its current condition by Steve Kemp. It had an oil burning engine in the nose before Steve converted it to PSS - Im not sure which kit it has come from sorry, but its size is similar in span to our design, I did not the fuselage was a little streamlined for scale! Are you back building??
