David Ashby - Moderator
Posted by fly boy3 on 21/08/2012 18:21:56: As I have not converted to 2.4Gig, Just wondered how many forum members are still using 35Mhz, all the time or now and then as per model. Cheers That's a good one FB3, we'll do it.
Dean
How about what people to during winter? 1. Carry on flying as normal no matter what. 2. Don't fly as often or go for a shorter time. 3. Put the models to bed for the winter and build/repair models. Or something along those lines!
John Privett
That's an interesting one Dean, but I'm not sure how I'd best answer it. My intention is to do 1) but in reality - mainly due to shorter daylight hours and worse (though that's debatable!) weather than in the summer - it's more likely in practice to be 2). Martin Harris - Moderator
Good idea - how about 1. Go to the field/fly as often as ever 2. Cut down a little 3. Venture out on good days only 4. Indoor flying only 5. Go into hibernation

Richard Harris
I was watching someone fly today and couldn't help but notice they were doing left hand/ anti clockwise circuits. Even their landing approach was all left hand turns to descend. When I asked why they just they felt more comfortable. I have also been to differenmt fly-in events and on the odd occasion where the wind dictates right hand circuits for reason of safety quite alot of pilots will not fly! Seems a bit odd to me as they would have to really be competent in both hands. So is it a right hand thing or what? I would like to see a poll on what pilots preferences are, L/'H , R/H or are they comfortable in both hand circuits? Rich
Shaunie
How about this for a poll:- Do you ever get nervous about flying? 1. Always, no matter what I'm flying. 2. Occasionally, if it's a maiden or new model. 3. Occasionally, particularly if the weather conditions are demanding. 4. Occasionally, if I've not flown for a while. 5. Only if there is a problem. 6. Occasionally, 2, 3, 4 and 5 apply. 7. Never. Cool, calm and collected no matter what happens. I think the poll only allows one box to be ticked hence group 6. Shaunie. Shaunie
Terrific David, Nice to feel I've got a contribution to make! Very close to home really, I always got very nervous in my first model flying career, to the point I would often make excuses to myself not to fly. Now after 16 years off and having been back for 3 years I am much better and will chuck a "hack" plane in the air with no nerves at all. As a result I am improving my piloting despite being older and slower than I was! Shaunie.

Ton van Munsteren
What I would like to know is if RCME plan builders like to build with; Low parts count , easy to cut by hand , but not so easy to build because the parts are not selfaligning. Higher parts count with tabs and slots , lot more work to cut yourself (mostly CNC) , but easier when building because of selfaligning.
