Ton van Munsteren
D, How are you feeling still sick or hopefully much better. Great job with the copper tube, must admit thats the fun part of cutting your own model making those special tools, hoping they work or even better seeing they work a treat Any progress looking forward to some more pics , or is it flying already. Tommy, Is the Mustang flying already looking forward to some maiden shots Cheers Ton
DG3
Slow progress. Spent some time struggling with the aileron servo and pushrod arrangement as per plans. I am trying to work with what material I have lying around. The pushrods I had when bent into the curve shape suffered from binding no matter what angle they were at so I had a rethink and decided on 90 degree bellcranks. See photos, seems ok, no slop noticeable. Should be ready for covering this week. Installed the elevator pushrod in the fuselage Edited By DG3 on 02/02/2014 19:09:06 Edited By DG3 on 02/02/2014 19:10:

Ton van Munsteren
DG3, Looks okay to me the use of bellcranks. Why the use of pieces balsa around the servo's, mine are both glued in place and works perfect. Cheers Ton
Ton van Munsteren
Tommy, Sorry to hear you have such bad weather, here in Holland its a little better so could fly the Mustang and maiden my new RedEagle glider design. Hope you have some good weather very soon, enjoy the maiden. Cheers Ton
Tommy Soderstrom
After an awful week with snow and rain the sun finally showed up... Todays flying machines: First takeoff! First landing... Still in one piece!
Nev
That look great and good flying shots. I really need to build one of these
Tommy Soderstrom
Thanks! The flying shots are actually from the video that is coming soon...
Tommy Soderstrom
Fist flight in the video with the CG on the mark, felt a bit tail heavy. Second flight with the battery moved forward felt better. The small spec in the video is the plane, kind of boring video but perhaps better than nothing... First time I tried my Mobius as a hat cam, worked better than I thought. Edited By Tommy Soderstrom on 04/02/2014 18:32:
Ton van Munsteren
Tommy, Thanks for posting the pics and video and congrats on the maiden. Looks to me you had great fun flying the Mustang. Was that full power flying all the time or is there more, what prop are you using. The weight is very nice 175gr. Thanks for building the Mustang and hope you have many more flights. Cheers Ton
Tommy Soderstrom
I don't think I used full power even at take off... I was using a 7x3,5. The plan was to try a few others (7x4 and 7x6) but I forgot to bring them. Only a few bursts on full power in the video, I was afraid the motor/prop would be low on power but no problem att all. Did you measure how many watts you use in your setup? I like the plane and I had a lot of fun flying it. It feels both stable and hysterical at the same time, could do very tight turns without stalling. One thing, if you are going to land on icy snow, put some tape on the bottom of the plane to save the covering...
Tommy Soderstrom
And I just had to know... 32W at full throttle with 7x3,5 propeller.
Ton van Munsteren
I started flying with a Gunther prop than went to the orange 5x4.3 which is a nice own. Than tested a 6x3 but that was not enough speed and last weekend flown an 5x5 and am most happy with that. With the 5x5 the static Amps are 7.1A measured which makes about 55watts and liking it. I just love to make turns within 1 mtr flipping it around. The Ice landings looked okay maybe a ski will make the differance or you can catch the Mustang . Tommy Soderstrom
With a 7x6 and an 800mAh 2S LiPo I get 57W in a static test. The motor is rated at max 6A... The 7x4 might be a good compromise but I can't find the correct adapter for the prop saver right now. What batteries are you using in your planes? chris barnes 1
Well I almost had success getting my hands on a copy of the plans today. Went to my local BooksAMillion and found that they do carry the magazine, but Februarys issues won't be put on display till Saturday. I will just have to try again then. Alex Marker
How is the wing meant to attach to this plane. Looking at the article and plans there is no clear way. What is the best option
Tommy Soderstrom
Ton van Munsteren
Alex, Fixing the wing in the fuse is with a few drops of thick Ca, or any other glue which stick on covering material. If you look closely the drops show at the leading and trailing edge. Are there any pics of you model, please do post them if possible . Tommy, Great pic thanks for posting. roy hill 2
Hi ton can you tell me what the aileron and elevator connecters are made with and how do connect them thanks From roy
Ton van Munsteren
Hi Roy, Good to see you here. The connecters is done with electricwire heathshrink and after shrinking fixed a little extra with a very small drop of ca. Also done a lot on indoor models and works perfect.
