Mark Agate
Good to see such a valuable use of our technology! 20 minutes duration seems pretty amazing, given that it's powering the camera as well. **LINK**
Ben B
I wondered if anyone would have posted this- just saw it on the bbc website Yes, seems impressive duration and pretty clever having return to home functionality in something that small. malcolm woodcock 1
I am finding it hard to believe that something, not much larger than a 'Pico Z,' can carry and power a camera, have an endurance of 20 minutes (initially I read a claim of 30 minutes) plus a return to base guidance system. Has there been some unpublished technological breakthrough or is this a bit of kidology. I remember the stories of the 60's when the Americans claimed their satellites could read the newsprint of a paper in Moscow, a claim later revealed as a story to worry the Russians as to the Americans abilities, is this just another such story or maybe someone is having a laugh. Reno Racer
The story is true. Its made by a Swedish Company and what the Fusiler in the video describes is fairly accurate.
Myron Beaumont
Malcolm Don't forget NASA can control a vehicle (curiosity) millions of miles away on Mars with an incredibly small signal going back & forth with the time delay involved (10 watts at source I think).I think we actually maybe use equipment that is redundant to those guys & is available as an offshoot on the market for our uses .Most if not all of modern day communication technology (and more besides) has been brought about by the space "race".It was definately not brought about by big companies for our "needs".Classic one is the Teflon coated frying pan . malcolm woodcock 1
Of course your right Myron. My frustration is where can I get my hands on this gear fo my planes? How long will it be for Hong Kong to be exporting it.?
Reno Racer
I'm trying to get my hands on one to have a good play around. Sure beats an MCPX.
Mark Agate
A little more information at **LINK** The company website seems a bit coy about the Black Hornet, but some interesting products at **LINK** The MAV-07 claims 10 minutes from a 200mAh LiPo. The other products' flight times sound a bit more realistic.
Myron Beaumont
Malcolm You might have to wait a while to get an affordable "clone" from HK, I see the price is $ 195,000 !!
