Erfolg
I am much encouraged with how the teams stand currently. A goodish degree of equality between them. The drivers at present making more of a difference than in the recent past. I read that Mercedes are heading to the court room, yet again, Red Bull being their target. Personally I would be at a loss, of who will win out, by the end of the season. It is a well done, to all, it is perhaps less important than for the last 10 years to be good with the predictions, as who will win and who would be second, are apparently no longer a done deal. I just hope that Russel continues as he has started and is not required to defer to perceived driver order for the team. It lead to a lot of bad feeling with Rosberg, heightened by apparent disregard to pre race agreements.

Tony and Iqon each move up one position to first and second respectively. They displace Chris 2 places down to third. Glenn and Zoonie are also moving upwards - a 4-place gain for Glenn and a 5-place gain for Zoonie, taking them to 4th and 5th. That means that Pete slips 2 places to 6th. John S has a 4-place gain today, up to 7th, whilst John T is moving 3 places downwards to 8th. Ade's second place today moves him up 3 places to 9th, whilst GrumpyGnome, Stu and myself are all moving downwards, 4places, 4 places and 3 places respectively, now occupying positions 10 to 12. Charles and Kev swap places today, with Charles up to 13th and Kev down to 14th. Simon is our only non-mover in the table today, but at least his 4th place today narrows the gap somewhat, with 14th only 11 points ahead and 13th just 16 points away. Next up is Miami in 2 weeks time. And of course that will be in the evening for us in the UK and Europe. Erfolg
At the end of the season it will be interesting to know if the winner and others, garnered most of their points as a result of team selection or from predictions. Russel did really well again it appears the car has the power. It was suggested that others who took the flexible floor and wing route, are having a similar problem. Good on Russel though, in that he coped with the issue. Although I find it suspect that the scrutineering process is not able to flag up floors and wings that contravene the deflection allowed when running, or is it a question that the stipulation is a rest only and the claim that some floors and wings break the regulations is wrong? John Privett
Evening all! After one race in Europe, F1 has crossed the Atlantic this weekend and has arrived at a new street circuit in Miami. That means of course that everything happens later in the day for us, so whilst we do have a little more time than usual, I will still repeat the customary advice; Don't forget your predictions! Qualiying is at 9pm UK time tomorrow, with the race 30 minutes earlier on Sunday. We've only had one practice session so far, with P2 still well over an hour away and P3 not until 6pm tomorrow. P1 saw Leclerc setting the fastest time, but with Russell only 0.071 seconds behind in second, showing signs of improvement for Mercedes. Hamilton was apparently hampered by traffic and understeer and could only manage 8th fastest. The two Red Bulls were 3rd and 4th, with Sainz in the second Ferrari 6th, behind Gasly in 5th. I'm off to do my predictions now - if P2 and P3 make me change my mind then I can of course change them (and then probably later regret doing so!) Good luck everyone!

John Privett
The Channel4 coverage should now be well under way, and hopefully those who didn't watch the race live, and don't want to see the results, are watching that rather than browsing the web! In which case I will proceed to post our league results today, though I will delay hitting "Submit" until as late as possible! Pete's result today moves him up 2 places to 4th, with Glenn slipping a place to 5th. John S moves up 1 to 6th, but Zoonie slips down 2 places to 7th. Further down the table Stu and GrumpyGnome swap places to 10th and 11th respectively, while Simon's result today sees him leap 3 places up to 12th, displacing me down a place to 13th, and finally Charles slips two places to 15th. McG 6969
Thanks John P. As for now (monday morning), the Fantasy site is closed for "Points are being revised following post-race penalties"... Erfolg
I have just read that there has been a 30% increase in viewer numbers this season. It appears that the less predictable nature of qualifying and results has been attractive to potential viewers. Reading the obituary of Tony Brooks highlights the differences in attitude and behaviour from then to the prima-donnas of today. There are piles of toys thrown out of the pram recently. |I was also surprised that the FIA is reluctant to intervene on the floppy floors (there should be no movable components). I just hope it will not be a case as with DAS steering that they only intervene when other teams introduce their own system, or the flexing front wing components, which were alright for one team, when a sister team introduces the same component (so it was claimed) then it was found to break the regulations.
