We had a bit of a get together last weekend and a couple of 3D printed Revolver II's turned up that are more than worthy of sharing.

They are in the prototype stage and  flew really well, the fuselage is printed as one piece and the mast/ head are separate. I

Really clever stuff, a few photos of Tim's work though I think this one was finished by Steve Jones.

I am using blades made by Astik Models, there are very nicely built and came pretty well matched, all within 0.6g.

There are a little bit narrower, 55mm instead of 60mm so I cut them 10mm longer to compensate.

The leading edge hardwood section is bigger than the one recommended on the plan so because of that they are heavier: 54g finished instead of 40g

Is this going to be a problem?

Nice covering job, not a lot left to do now!

Not sure if you have seen this, a friend sent me this photo taken from the pages of this months Model Aviation Magazine your side of the pond. I think the mag is kind of like our BMFA news over here, though I could be wrong.

The motor thrust line lies about 18mm above the vertical hang line. I didn’t think this was ideal however reading other comments this appears to be about typical. I already have the motor as low as possible without striking the boom so not certain what more I could do. As far as tip weights on the blades the answer is no. I wasn’t aware they could be necessary nor what their affect would be.

Thought I'd share this experimental twin boomed tail I have retrofitted to my Revolver II.  If it works out OK I will adapt it onto an upcoming new larger design, the booms are spruce laminations and seem to be plenty strong enough. I have had  to up the KV of the motor so as to reduce prop diameter, I am hoping this will enable accurate alignment of the thrustline to vertical CG.

A little more work to complete but should be flight ready for our up coming FlyIn.
