Barrie Dav 2
Any suggestions for a substitute motor, perhaps H/King for the Permax BL-O 3516-0850 (Heron Glider). I can't seem to get a match. Has anyone built the kit version and used a subsititute motor?
Dave Hopkin
Might be a decent alternative : **LINK** The stats I can find for the original are: O-3516-0850 Kv - 850 Max Current - 35A Max Voltage - 4S Weight - 130g Diam - 36mm Length - 37mm
Barrie Dav 2
Thanks Dave, that looks about the right dimensions except for the short (5mm) prop shaft.
Dave Hopkin
Would the prop adaptor for the other end fit?
Bill_B
I have the slightly smaller Solius (same fuselage and tail feathers), and I'm using the Airtek Apex AX/3548/900 (900Kv) to great effect. This has a 5mm shaft and I'm running a Graupner Cam Folding 12" x 6" on a 1800mAh 4s LiPo. It churns out about 675 Watts (in) and will literally take the Solius vertical from level flight. It's cheap too at £24. LINK
Barrie Dav 2
Thanks for your interest Dave but it needs to have a folding prop so perhaps this won't work. That motor looks to have about the right dimensions too Bill. I'll have a 'gander'. Ta!
Broken Prop
4Max offer a number of powersets for MPX products. **LINK** If one is not posted for the Heron, I am sure a quick phone call will soon produce one.....

Bob Bertram
Conrad, your previous post was lost due to the website changeover. I replied that I used an Emax GT2820/07 motor in mine, Robotbirds have them in stock at £24.99 I think. Someone else replied and had used a motor from 4Max but I can't remember which one but only about £4 more and probably easier to get spares.
