john stones 1 - Moderator
I have a 3548 1050kv motor..max amp 50 60 amp esc..4 cell 3300mah lipo...10x6 prop w/meter reads 816 watts and 56amp, so I've to drop prop in pitch...I hope ? don't want to go smaller diameter Other than suck n see is there any formula on how much a drop of 1 in pitch will give in reduction of amps ? john stones 1 - Moderator
Another question 56 amp is with me holding model, I would expect amps would drop when unrestrained...flying ? How much, anyone got any theories from using telemetry ? John Edited By john stones 1 on 18/05/2016 19:09:
McG 6969
Sorry John, as I can't really be of any assistance here. I would think that a 1000 KV motor spinning a 10x6 or 10x7 prop should be more suited to a 3S configuration. But please, as I said wait for some electro-guru to give you the proper advice... Chris Barlow
I am thinking along the same lines as Chris with a 3s setup. If you can prop to around 400W you should be in the region of 35 amps ? Congratulations on the winter build award too!
john stones 1 - Moderator
No I'm not buying a load of 3s lipos, I have the 4s already, would make life easier/cheaper to change motor But i'll get where I want to be dropping pitch a couple on prop. Piers Bowlan
HobbyKing do a 3548 840kv as well as a 3548 700kv here, which might be a drop in replacement for the motor you are using. Either should be Ok with a 4s LiPo depending on the prop size of course. But as you say, dropping the pitch would probably get the amps down too. What is your objection to a smaller prop - just curious?
john stones 1 - Moderator
I would rather have the pull through aeros with bigger prop than speed from pitch Piers, motor wasn't bought for this model, I'm being cheap and trying to save a few quid. sent for some 10x4.5 and 10x5 props. AndyD
im the other way round with the little electric trainer im building i want the 3s as ive got lots of them and ive got the 3548 1100kv motor.i only need 300w so its way to powerful and a bit on the heavyside but as you say ive got it so im goin to use it,money dont grow on trees, plus i thought with motor extensions and the like it would end up the same sort of weight as a smaller motor. Bob Cotsford
Posted by AndyD on 19/05/2016 22:13:50: it,money dont grow on trees, that's always intrigued me, what about if you run orchards? Surely then money DOES grow on trees? Sorry.
