Hi PDB, if you go to paras 145 and 146 in my book there is a simple equation there to work out the mean aerodynamic chord (MAC).  Find the position on the wing with that chord length and then your range will be 27%-35% of the chord length back from the LE at that position.  Transfer that position to the root chord by drawing a line at right angles to the fuselage and passing through your selected CG position at the MAC.  That is now the CG position at the root.  I would start at 30% and work backwards till you reach a position that feels good to you.
