Mark's Rutland A4 Skyhawk

Agree with Phil and Peter above. I ended up with a setup similar to Phil's low rates for ailerons and 30% expo and his high rates for elevator but 10% expo. Could probably do with a little more elevator for slow speed and landing but I'll probably leave it as it is now!

I found the roll rate to be excellent and full elevator at 1/2" didn't seem to stall the wing or flick out although it did slow the model down very quickly. Maybe that's the delta wing AoA creating lots of drag? Could be why it seems to run out of steam climbing up into a loop?

I've set up the controls as reported by Phil Cooke and others, even put in a extra servo fly lead in channel 6 for the second wing servo and set up draggerons etc.

The model  -  WK VMA-224 MARINES A4 Skyhawk in the line up - previous meeting.

In the above video - It appears that these A4's get into bumps a scraps watch at 4:00 mins in and then number '5' takes off.

Had the RX fail to listen to the TX so replacing, whilst I was doing that I thought I'd take the battery out to check and the ribbon broke with the battery still in the battery box.

Above a previous shot with ribbon attached to a AA square battery. So after a big dig around - 60 mins - I managed to get the battery out.

I'm going to change the battery to a smaller AAA square type and carry lead to make up the weight. Also mount it on a piece of 2mm thick x 30mm wide x 310 mm long balsa reinforced with brown paper PVA'd on both sides. The diameters are smaller and in the future it will make balancing, battery extraction and checking easier. I'm wedging it in will just some foam at the battery box end.

Even taped the battery lead facing down against the balsa strip so it doesn't get in the way.
