Phil Green Posted September 12, 2016 Share Posted September 12, 2016 For this one I used an orange Farnel powder-coated case, Maplin chromed LED bezels, a DS438 microswitch (the large one) with a DS428 button, Farnel on/off toggle with bezel, and a couple of special badges: on the rear theres a serial plate made by Ronstv (ta very much Ron!) and for the main logo plate I wanted something special so I drew one up and had it made by Name Badges International. Phil Green Posted September 12, 2016 Author Share Posted September 12, 2016 It uses the usual Single-Channel Emulation Encoder as described in RCM&E a couple of years back, and a Flysky RM002 module which performs really well with outstanding range, and is half the price of most modules. It has an integral aerial rather than the usual SMA connector and so the whole module is recessed into the back panel of the transmitter. The receiver is a FS-R6B. Using the servo-sweep facility I did a full-power ground-range check at Elvington airfield and ran out of space at a measured 900 metres and with the servo still smoothly sweeping away. The Flysky combo is very impressive for such an inexpensive setup. The transmitter feels nice, well balanced, and of course works perfectly. However... Whilst the powder-coated cases are very nice, I think I still prefer a genuine period transmitter to convert!
