Robin Etherton
My friend runs a solar panel business and wants to take photographs of the roof before and after installation of the panels. Doesn’t have to be too fancy. What would you guys recommend? Robin
Denis Watkins
Look up 1st Robin, the laws against flying over people or property And the Commercial Licence approval if the work is for monetary gain
Ron Gray
Before going down the purchase route, is your friend aware of the need to obtain CAA authorisation for such work (commercial work with a value associated to it)? There are quite a few 'drone operators' out there who are blissfully unaware, or completely ignore the laws surrounding these type of operations which continues to make it more difficult for those of us who do abide by the law. Oops, sorry Denis, posts crossed! Edited By Ron Gray on 25/02/2018 13:31:
Robin Etherton
Thanks guys, I have already informed him of this. Only having experience of a blade 350 qx which would seem to be up for the job if a little dated I thought I would ask the experts and get more up to date options. Any thoughts anyone? Bucksboy
Anything that has the letters DJI in front. I use the Phantom, Mavic and Inspire 2 for work (but not in the UK) and they are faultless. They just work, each and every time. I've not tried the Spark or new Mavic Air though but I'd expect them to well sorted too.
eflightray
Which drone package would you recommend? If I was cruel, I might suggest an oak casket with brass handles. Ray.
Ron Gray
I boils down to what he wants the pics / vids for as camera quality will have an impact on that and the type of drone he goes for. For the sort of work outlined above, a DJI Pantom, Mavic would be fine giving nice clear shots ideal for marketing purposes. I use my Mavic for limited access work where it comes into its own and where the Yuneec H520 is too large!
