ken anderson.
hello Adrian,be warned the motor that tony recommended and used.....I thought I would order from HK in preparation for the build.it was only available from the global warehouse(china)...order came to £20 inc delivery which I thought was ok...anyway some 3 weeks later the order came and I had to pay an extra £11 to the postie....not such a bargain......hopefully it will be available in the UK warehouse...if not …. ken anderson...ne..1...stung dept. Chris Walby
Ken, Are yes the import tax/vat and the hefty charge for the postie to deal with it....My fee was slightly less, but only because the goods were about ten quid! Chris....ne...1... even more stung! PS live and learn
Piers Bowlan
My understanding Chris is that there are no charges up to £15. Any items totalling £15-£135 is charged VAT (plus handling fee) and over £135 you are charged VAT, Import Duty plus the handling fee (from non EU countries) I was stung too Edited By Piers Bowlan on 03/09/2018 15:59:
Christopher Long 1
I have contacted HK and they have told me that the 50mm EDF unit mentioned will only be available from the global warehouse, so double the cost by the time you have paid postage, VAT and post office admin charge! Is there another source for a 50mm EDF that will do?
Steven S
I've tried to download the build pictures as mentioned in the Fall Secial issue, but only get this error message: Would that be because I am in Canada?
Steven S
I still can't see the build photos' on Tonys' website, but I can see them for his other planes, so I assume it's not because I'm in Canada.
ken anderson.
hello Steven, I think you'll find that the build photo's etc, won't appear until the mag comes out in the next few days... ken anderson..ne..1... mini EDF dept.
Piers Bowlan
Never mind the 'Mass Build', I saw these models in the SLEC tent at Cosford and I think that they will be massively popular, so may be a mass build in their own right! I have several 64mm fans/motors going spare so if the models were enlarged by 130% they would still end up with only a span of around 31in, even if the fuselages might look a little 'boxy' at this enlarged size. Fun to experiment .
Devcon1
I'm hooked, first EDF for me and always planned at some time to have a Sabre, it's such a terrific looking airframe . Looking forward to the 2018 special, powertrain ordered.

Daithi O Buitigh
You could try Banggood for the fan units - they have a selection from 30mm to 65mm
trebor
Would it be any good, some seem to suffer from vibration **LINK** Theres an eleven blade job but it looks power hungry **LINK** You might not get charged any duties through Bangood if you go for free postage. Nigel R
trebor, don't know if you've seen this, for balancing: https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?1267814-How-to-dynamically-balance-EDF-unit-with-a-cell-phone
Devcon1
If it helps I've gone for the 11 blade FMS unit, rightly or wrongly. Although slightly heavier I think I can shave the odd gram from other components to manage the weight, I've also assumed the logic that I can achieve similar power levels to the recommended unit but at lower throttle positions whilst that extra little bit of grunt when needed. I'm curious as to how nice an 11 blade unit sounds.
Nigel R
There's also the WeMoTec Micro if you're feeling a bit flush.

Tim C
Well my FMS 11 blade 50mm edf fan turned up today from Banggood, the AEO unit was out of stock. I ran a quick bench test, 73g out the box, runs very smooth and surprisingly quiet, on. 2200 3s 320 Watts on the meter a little over 30amp on full chat. Holding it over the kitchen scales showed in xs of 700g of thrust, a crude measure but interesting, will be interested to see the equiv measure once installed
ken anderson.
if you can get 700g of thrust in the model...it will go like a Goodin for sure. ken anderson..ne...1...….700G dept.
